My life was far from typical; I had been abandoned as an infant. Fortunately, I was taken in by an elderly gentleman named Timothy Hawthorn. However, his passing a year ago left me alone, residing in a rustic cabin deep within the Viridian Forest. Surrounded by nature, I'd always felt a connection to Pokémon, with my lifelong companion being my Froakie. He shared my quiet demeanor, but when engaged in action, his whole personality transformed, much like mine.

One particular day was no exception.

Froakie and I were perched on a tree branch, taking in the tranquility of the forest when we were drawn by the sounds of a Pokémon skirmish. Intrigued, we ventured closer, discovering a Charmander engaged in a fierce battle with a peculiar, pink, floating Pokémon I had never seen before. Two other individuals were present - one seemed to be Charmander's trainer, and the other observed from a distance. As I wondered if I had ever encountered them before, the pink Pokémon suddenly darted toward me, stopping just inches from my face.

"Mew?"

It scrutinized me and let out a playful giggle.

(Y/N): Mew?

Then, it gracefully ascended and vanished into thin air.

I couldn't help but gaze at the sky until a voice disrupted my thoughts.

"Hey!"

A stern-looking trainer called out.

(Y/N): Oh, yeah?

"Do you know that Pokémon?"

(Y/N): Nah, it's my first time seeing it.

The other trainer added, "It seemed like the Pokémon recognized you, though."

(Y/N): Yeah, strange... Oh! I apologize if I intruded on your battle. I heard the commotion and couldn't resist checking it out.

The serious trainer, Blue, inquired, "Are you a trainer?"

(Y/N): Kind of?

Blue: Let's have a battle. Follow me.

He began walking.

(Y/N): What? No!

Blue halted, wearing a puzzled expression.

Blue: Why not?

(Y/N): I just don't feel like it right now. I was peacefully napping until I ended up here. Besides, I don't even know your name.

Blue introduced himself, and the other trainer, Red, joined the conversation.

"My name is Red, by the way. Also a trainer!"

Blue turned his attention to me again.

(Y/N): What do you think, Froakie?

Froakie nodded and hopped off my shoulder to the ground.

Froakie: FROAKIE!

(Y/N): Alright, I suppose we can give it a go. I'm (Y/N), by the way.

We left the woods, entering a spacious field.

(Y/N): You sure about choosing Charmander? My Froakie is a water type.

Blue: It seems you know your types, but I'm confident.

Blue pointed at Red.

Blue: Why are you here?

Red: Umm, just here to watch?

(Y/N): Understandable.

Blue: Whatever, let's start! Charmander, Flamethrower!

A fiery blast surged toward Froakie, but he agilely dodged it.

(Y/N): Great job, Froakie! Now, Dig!

Froakie burrowed into the ground, leaving Charmander puzzled.

(Y/N): Go!

Froakie emerged behind Charmander and unleashed a Water Pulse.

(Y/N): Water Pulse!

The pulsing water attack struck Charmander's back, sending him tumbling.

Blue: Get up and use Scratch!

Charmander struggled to his feet.

(Y/N): Quick Attack!

Froakie dashed towards Charmander, landing a blow, but Charmander's Scratch landed just before it fell. Charmander fainted, but Froakie stood strong.

Blue hurried to Charmander.

Froakie scurried back to me, leaping onto my shoulder. I checked his injuries.

(Y/N): We have some berries at home; hopefully, that'll help. Return to your Poké Ball for now.

Froakie smiled and complied.

(Y/N): That was a great battle.

Blue remained silent as he returned Charmander to its Poké Ball.

Blue: I've never seen that Pokémon before.

(Y/N): I don't think it's a Kanto Pokémon.

Blue extended his hand towards me.

(Y/N): Oh!

I shook his hand.

Blue left, and everything fell quiet until...

Red: THAT WAS AMAZING!

(Y/N): Thank you, Red.

Red: Your Froakie was incredible! Both of you are so strong! You must train every day!

(Y/N): Not really.

Red seemed puzzled.

Red: Huh?

(Y/N): Most days, Froakie and I just hang out and relax. We've only battled wild Pokémon occasionally.

Red: Still, that battle was incredible. I have a Poliwhirl, but I doubt we could fight like you two anytime soon.

(Y/N): But I'm sure you can have plenty of fun with your Poliwhirl. Enjoy your time with your Pokémon instead of focusing solely on getting stronger. Well, who am I to say these things.

I laughed, but Red was lost in thought, holding a Poké Ball.

Red: No, you're right. I thought I was a great trainer, but...

Red chuckled slightly.

Red: Today, I've learned something valuable. It seems I have much to discover! Alright, (Y/N)!

(Y/N): Yes?

Red: The next time we meet, Poli and I will be much stronger. Let's have a battle then!

(Y/N): Sounds like fun, Red.

Suddenly, Red dashed away.

(Y/N): Some interesting people I've met today... But I think I've finally found the answer to a certain question.
