I jolted to my senses. Taking a deep breath, I sat crossed leg in the middle of the cell; processing everything and planning what to do next. One glance at the ventilator through the mirror and I knew much time had already been wasted. The longer I remained away from my son, the more agitated I got.

I winced on swallowing, my throat was parched and aching, their drug doing no good either. I had barely started a self-assessment when I heard multiple footsteps coming in my direction. I straightened my back as they opened the metal door. The moment I looked at my visitors, my stomach dropped.

Carl wasnt the only one who had betrayed me.

I controlled my emotions and made sure my face remained impassive as I stared back at Byron who was standing on Stevens left with an equally blank expression. All these past days had been so shocking that now I was numb to anything that happened.

"Your Majesty, how do you feel?" Steven addressed me with a smirk.

I shifted my attention to my son, who stood uncomfortably under Carls hold, because I didnt trust myself to maintain my cool if I looked at the murderer of my happiness.

"I feel that you could learn a thing or two about how to treat royalty."

"Ah, she is fine." He chuckled, "Now you must be curious as to how you ended up here. Let me answer few of your questions-"

"Not at all!" My eyes shifted back to those sterling clouds, "Give me some credit, I can add 2 and 2 together. Two vampires among the hunters, one a former hunter, another a royalty."

"Couldnt let me have the satisfaction of breaking it to you about the betrayal of your close ones, could you?" Steven scowled light-heartedly but it held an underlying dark smugness to it.

"Never." Byrons eyes flashed, something stirring in them.

"Oh well, my time will come." I could feel his sickly eyes running over me, "Eventually." Stepping back, he motioned towards Byron, "I will give you all some privacy, I am sure you have lots to talk about."

With that he retreated along with his hunters but the vampires stepped inside the cell.

"Knock thrice and I will open it." The bald man nodded gruffly at Carl and slammed the door shut.

"Mommy!" Raph tried to run towards me but Carl held him back.

Leaning back on my hands, I glared at Byron, "This is why all that sweet talk? These are your reasons?" I scoffed, "Throwing me and my son to the hunters?"

"Believe me, I would never do that. Betray you, like that." Byron made a move to step towards me but I motioned him to stop.

"You were the only one who knew about the wolves. Carl knew the location but you knew the wolves were on patrol."

"Well you-"

"Why are you here now?" I cut him off. I was done with everything. I just wanted to get out of here with my son and see Dorian.

"First try to under-"

"No!" I flashed to my feet, "I am not listening. I am done playing games." I stepped towards him with every word.

"Epione, please-", Carl tried to speak.

"Shut up Carl, I will deal with you later." I said making him turn pale.

Turning back at Byron, I flashed my fangs, "I am done, you hear me? So, help me if I-! Mmmmph!"

It took me a second to register what had just happened. I was pinned against the opposite wall and caged by his arms and his lips on me as he kissed me relentlessly. As the initial shock wore off, I pushed him away; trying my best to finish him with my glare. But it didnt seem to work as he just smiled at me lazily.
