(TW: there is talk about drunk driving and a car accident, so i don't know if people typically don't like things like that, so i'll put a warning here)

-y/ns pov-
"and last but not least, y/n y/l/n, great enforcer, amazing puck handler, almost better than Dwayne." Tibbles was sayin as i did some tricks and moves with puck , i could feel a pair of eyes on me and when i looked, a cute blonde haired boy with blue eyes was staring. "she just got back into hockey not to long ago after being out for 2 years." Tibbles finished, as i went around the net and scored. "i wonder what happened" i could hear somebody say, but didn't know where it came from.
"she can tell you guys later if she wants" said coach Bombay. i just skated to a stop over by the goalie, Julie. then all of a sudden everyone erupts in an argument, i just stand back not wanting anything to do with it, when i notice the blue eyed boy doing the same. then Coach blew the whistle. he then gathered us up and tied us all together. "now i want you to move as one." he said so everybody started to go, in all different directions, so we all fell. and the blue eyed boy fell on top of me, and a pink tint spread across his cheeks, and across mine as well. he got off me, and held his hand out. i grabbed it and he helped me up. we both smiled and looked back at coach.

i was untying my skates and talking to Connie. "bye y/n, see you later" she said as she waved and got up and walked away. i put my skates in my bag and grabbed my shoes when i heard the door open. i grabbed my bag when a pain went through my arm and i dropped my bag on the floor beside my foot.
"y/n? are you still in here?" i heard a familiar voice say. "uh yeah, i- i am" i said, going to grab my bag again, with my other hand. the pain in my arm was a lot, so a few tears were fighting to get by. "hey, are you okay?" the boy said as he rounded the corner, and saw me. i knew his name was Adam, because i had asked Connie about him. "yeah, i'm, uh- i'm fine" i said taking my empty hand and wiping my tears away. "no your not, here let me help you" Adam said, as he grabbed the bag from my hand, slightly touching his hand with mine.
"thanks, Adam." i said. we started walking towards the door, "anytime y/n. if you don't mind me asking, why were you out of hockey for 2 years?" He asked. I thought to myself, others are gonna ask too, might as well start with him.

i looked over at y/n, she looked like she wanted to cry. "you don't have to tell me,
i just wondered." i said, hoping to make her a bit more relaxed and comfortable. "no no, the others are gonna ask, so i might as well tell you first" she said, taking a deep breath before continuing. "around 2 1/2 years ago, me and my older brother were out driving one night. we were driving down this one road, when a drunk driver came and hit us, and he was going a lot faster than he should've been, so we rolled." she stopped for a minute and tried taking a deep breath but all she got a was a very shaky one. "my arm was pinned under some metal, and so was my leg. when i looked over, to where my brother was supposed to be, he wasn't there anymore. he was thrown from the truck, and his injuries were to severe. i waited about an hour before anybody got to us, and my brother was already gone by then. so, i got surgeries done to my leg and my arm, and it still hurts from time to time. i did alot of physical therapy to get back to where i am, and i didn't play last year because i got reminded to much of him, but this year when i got the chance to play for Team USA, i knew he would've wanted me to take it. i don't know, i've never really told anyone alot about it. i just feel guilty about it, that i lived and he didn't." she finished, as she looked over at me, tears falling down her face. i set her bag down, and just grabbed her and hugged her. She started crying even more, but i didn't let go. i so badly wanted to make her feel safe and make her feel better, so we stood in a hallway in the arena, me just holding her.
"y/n, i am so sorry for what you went through, i have no idea how much it must've been, but just know that, i'll be here. i'm glad you trusted me, telling me this about you." i sort of whispered, as i stroked her head and sort of played with her hair, "i want to be your friend, if you'll let me. and i want to somewhat make you feel better, or at least try."
after about 6/7 minutes, she started to let go, so i did as well. her eyes were all puffy and red. i put my arm around her waist and grabbed her bag with my free hand. i walked her to her dorm, and set her bag down by her bed. "Adam." y/n started to say, "thank you" she said as she smiled at me, "no problem, anytime, anywhere, i'll be here, so if you want someone to talk to, you know where i am." i replied as i made my way to the door, taking one last glance at y/n before walking out and making my way to my dorm.
