Maya's Next Adventure

Chapter Fourteen

Carina's POV

I get out of my car at the fire station after my shift finished to go pick up Amelia as Maya is working overnight. Maya and I have spoken during the day about ways to help Amelia if she was to have a moment where she missed Maya or panicked because Maya wasn't around, but we had no guarantee that they would work so I hope that Amelia manages without Maya.

I walk into the station, greet Travis Montgomery, who was at the Reception Desk and walk into Maya's office where Amelia runs straight at me and gives me a hug.

"Did you have a good day bambina" I ask the tiny child, she arms still wrapped around my legs.

"Yeah, I met all of the team and I saw the fire engine with Firefighter Miller. I had lots of fun. When I grow up I want to be a firefighter unicorn" she says with the most adorable giggle in her voice.

"A firefighter unicorn. That sounds like so much fun bambina" I say, playing along with her. "Are you ready to say bye to Maya and come home now" I ask her.

"Yeah, let me go and pack my bag" she says before running into Mayas bunk.

I walk over to Maya and place a quick kiss on her lips. "Arizona asked me today if she could visit Amelia one day, over dinner or something. I didn't give her an answer as I wanted to speak with you first." I ask her as my conversation with Arizona earlier on fronted back into my memory.

"I think that is a great idea. I think Amelia would love to see Arizona again. Tell her to come over for dinner tomorrow as I'm not working so I can help prep"

"I'll let her know when I get home." Just then, Amelia comes out of the bunk with her bag in her hand.

"Help please" She asks as she hands me her bag. I put her bag on her bag before telling her to say goodbye to Maya. She gives Maya a hug and kisses her on her cheek, Maya does the same back then I walk over to Maya.

"I love you bella, Ill see you when you get home"

"I love you too Carina" She presses her lips against mine. "Don't kill my baby Carina" she whispered, her lips still pressed against mine.

"I won't bambina" I whisper back before pulling away and look at Amelia who had her hand over her eyes. I laugh at what she is doing. "It's okay bella you can look now"

Her hand comes off of her eyes and we head on out of Maya's office. "Bye bye" She shouts to the rest of the crew before we walk out of the Station and head on home.

*BACK AT THE APARTMENT*

I help Amelia take her backpack and shoes off before I watch her run off over to the couch. "Can you put on 'Fireman Sam' please. Firefighter Miller said it was good" She asks me as she climbs up onto the couch.

Even though I have no idea what 'Fireman Sam', I trust Dean enough to know that he isn't going to tell a six year old to watch something that is not age appropriate. I look on Netflix to see if it is there and thankfully it was so I put it on for her.

"Thank you Carina" she says kindly.

"No problem bella, would you like me to get you a drink" I ask her, not knowing if she will answer as she became so quickly engrossed to the television screen.

"Water please" She says quietly, not looking away from the television.

I turn around and head on up to the kitchen to grab her a water bottle when I hear her giggle. It was the sweetest sound that I have ever heard and it made my heart melt. Knowing that she wasn't going to look at me when I walk back into the living room, I decide that I was going to see if I could grab a video of her giggling. I stand in the doorway of the living room and get my phone on standby to record her next giggle. It doesn't take long for her to start giggling again so I press record. Her giggle is like music to my ears and seeing her this happy is just amazing. I stop recording and walk in and hand Amelia the water bottle.
