Consumed by his cravings for power, Niklaus Mikaelson slaughters anyone standing in his way. Elena's life has become hell. But then, a spell rips her out of it and takes her far back in time to the very beginning of the Originals. Might...
I clean some glasses, just to have something to do. It has been two days since Alaric died.
About three weeks ago, I decided to take over Matt's old job at the Grill. At first, I just stepped in because I wanted to keep myself busy, but somewhere between my first shift and today, I have actually come to appreciate it. People always go to the Grill. It's the only decent bar in Mystic Falls. So, when you're the barkeeper, the chances are good that you will overhear it when someone plans something terrible. I think what made me really get dedicated to my job was me overhearing Kol Mikaelson saying he was going to see the Mystic Falls High School Cheerleaders. After hearing that, I sent a warning to my friends and Bonnie managed to avert a massacre.
Tonight is a rather less exciting day. Which is a good thing, given the alternative. Only Damon keeps hanging around. It is already past midnight and knowing him, he will probably stay till we close.
The sound of the door opening makes me look up. A brunette woman walks into the Grill. She looks somewhat exhausted and not too happy. I guess it makes sense she came here then. I recognize her. Hayley Marshall, mother of Klaus' daughter.
She takes a seat at the bar and looks at me. "Whiskey."
Wordlessly, I pour her a glass and leave her to it.
"Rough night?" Damon slids onto the seat next to her.
She responds without looking at him. "That is none of your business, leave me alone."
Damon raises his eyebrows and smirks. "Ooh, sounds juicy. I love snooping around stuff that's none of my business! Tell me more!"

She turns her head to him, disbelief and annoyance written on it. "Wow! And here I thought Klaus was nosy. Maybe I shouldn't have judged him before meeting you."
"If you had met me before, you probably wouldn't have a kid. I mean, look at me!" he spreads his arms and gestures at himself, "Come on! No one could notice that big, grumpy wolf when they've got eyecandy like me goin' around."
Instead of replying, Hayley takes her whiskey and swallows it with one big gulp.
Damon grins. "Oh, that's a good idea! Let's keep drinking and by the end of the night, we'll be best buddies!"
Hayley rolls her eyes. At the same time, I think I see the smallest hint of starting smirk on her lips. Silently, she beckons for me to bring more whiskey. I attempt to refill her glass, but she grabs the bottle and nods to me, signalling me to leave her to it again.
I decide to leave both of them be for a second. After all, I still need to clean a few things up in the kitchen and neither one of my two customers seems to need me right now. When I come back, Damon and Hayley are both gone and judging by the $50 note they left behind, they most probably are not going to come back. Seeing that there is no one else here anymore and closing time only six minutes from now, I decide to close the Grill for today.
