Try as I Might

I held back the tears when I got the call

We have a long road ahead of us all

Try as I may, try as I might

I'll pull on my strength and hold on tight

-

When the words rang loud in my ear

It was confirmed our worst fears

It's worse than they thought days ago

What time is left, we don't know

-

I will keep my chin up for all to see

I will not show them how this is affecting me

A positive attitude is what they'll get

Never showing them how much I'm upset

-

Momma, sisters, brothers, and Dad

We will be angry, fearful, worried, and sad

But we got this with God at his post

He will carry us when we need him the most

-

So with heavy hearts and plastered smiles

We will take these babysteps mile after mile

Kicking this cancer's butt all the way to the end

I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
