The ride back home was silent. I stared at the road, not once glancing at Emilio. It was just awkward. I shouldn’t have said anything last night. Why did I tell him that I wanted more? I’m so stupid. It was stupid of me to even think that a guy like him would want to be in a relationship with me. He was selfish arrogant and a fucking asshole.

“Will!” Emilio shouted as I almost hit a car. I swerved missing it by an inch.

“Shit,” I swore underneath my breath.

“Are you trying to kill us? Pay attention to the road,” Emilio huffed. “Oh, deu meu.”

I was silent as I paid attention to the road. Emilio sighed as I turned the radio on. Maybe the radio would keep me focused. I turned it up loud on some pop station as I drove. Why the hell did I live 6 hours away? Now, I had to spend the next four hours trying to not look at Emilio. It hurt too much. I mean he had completely rejected me last night.

I like you Emilio. I want more out of this than sex.

I cringed as I reminisced last night.

Will – I thought we had made this clear in the beginning. I thought you weren’t interested in a relationship. I mean we both agreed –

Well, I changed my mind. Emilio . . .  I like you.

I like you too Will but –

Forget it, Emilio. Forget I even brought it up. Ok?

Will! Don’t be like that. Will?

Drop it Emilio. You made your feelings clear. Let’s just pretend this didn’t happen.

I came back to reality as soon as Emilio changed my radio station to some Spanish station. I growled as I switched it back. Thus a radio war began.

“Emilio! Stop,” I exclaimed.

“Your music sucks,” he retorted.

“Well too fucking bad!” I snapped. “My car! My choice!”

“This is torture,” Emilio muttered underneath his breath as he changed the station. I slapped his hand away as he shoved me. I hit him back as we fought in the car.

“Stop! I’m driving,” I huffed as I pushed back to the passenger seat. I slammed my hands against the steering wheel, as I heard sirens sound behind me. Shit! I glanced in the rearview mirror to see a police car behind me. I glared at Emilio as I pulled over to the side.

“Don’t say anything,” I warned as Emilio cracked a smile at me. “This is all your fault.”

“My fault? This is your fault!” Emilio retorted. “You’re driving.”

“I hate you,” I muttered as the officer stepped outside of his car. I sighed as he moved slowly towards my car. I rolled down the window as the officer glanced inside of my car.

“Good morning, now do you know why I pulled you over today sir?” he asked curiously.

“No officer,” I said honestly.

“Have you been drinking? You were doing a lot of swerving back there,” he said narrowing his eyes at me. I swallowed hard as Emilio chuckled beside me.

“You think something’s funny?” the officer said to Emilio.

“Eh? No parlo Anglès,” Emilio snorted.

“License and registration,” he said back at me.

“Alright,” I said grabbing my wallet. I opened the glove compartment and grabbed my registration. I sighed with relief as he walked back to his car. I sat back in my chair, as I hit Emilio.
