Chapter Sixteen:
Rescue Mission

LUCY WAS, ONCE again, the group's saving grace. She managed to get everyone on board with her plan to save Miss Jenn, although it really didn't take much convincing.

The cast and crew spent the whole night putting together their plan to save Miss Jenn, with Lucy at the center of it all (politely) barking out orders to everyone as they got everything together.

Lucy was bouncing up and down with a water bottle in her hand during a five, when Ej walked up to her and chuckled amusedly. He commented, "You have a lot of energy for it being nearly 10:30."

"That's just because I'm excited. Trust me, I will crash as soon as I get home," she giggled, rocking back from one foot to another.

"Well you're doing great with everything here," Ej insisted. "Seriously, I don't think half of us would've even listened if it weren't you leading the charge. You're a natural leader, Luce."

"Ah, I blame our dads for that one," Lucy waved him off. "You know how they are."

"Trust me, I know," Ej chuckled, earning another laugh from Lucy as well. She looked down at her watch and saw that their five minutes were just about up.

"Well, thank you for your words of encouragement, but our five is just about up, so I must get back—"

"Get back to what you do best," Ej agreed with a warm smile on her direction. "Go ahead."

Lucy smiled up at him and clapped her hands together, "Alright, everyone! Let's bring it back and take it back to our last eight counts!"

Ej couldn't help but smile as she took over again. He meant it when he said she was a natural leader, she made it fun to work on their project.

Lucy raced around her house the next morning, gathering all that she needed before the board meeting that morning. She was gonna pick up Ricky and Red on her way to the school, and she was running a bit behind schedule.

"Woah, woah, woah," Carter said, seeing his daughter run past him. "Pause! Rewind it! Come here!"

Lucy sighed, stopped in her place, and slowly walked backwards to her dad. Smiling innocently at him she chirped, "What's up, daddio?"

Carter raised an eyebrow at her and took in a breath, "What's going on with you, hm? You didn't come home till late last night, all I got was a text saying you were hanging out at Big Red's for a while, and now you're running around like a madwoman at— I don't know what time it is, but it's certainly early. What's going on, Lucy-goosey? Talk to me."

Lucy took in a deep breath and then began to ramble, "Well we got a new drama teacher this year, and she's really, really cool, and all of us love her, but she fibbed a bit on her application and now she's having a hearing today in front of the school board about whether or not she loses her job, but if she loses her job we lose our show, and none of us want that! So I tried to sing us all a song yesterday— you know Work This Out from High School Musical Two? I did a great rendition of that with everyone else, but it didn't work! So then I figured out how we could save Miss Jenn while talking to Nini and then everyone was over at Big Red's and we all talked about how upset we were that we might lose our show. Well everyone else was talking, I was still bitter that none of them listened to my song earlier, so I started solving a Rubik's cube, and then everyone decided they wanted to listen to me so we spent all night putting together something to help Miss Jenn, so now that I explained all of this to you, I really have to go because I need to get Richard and Biggie over to the school."
