Chapter 2

"Seems like someone beat me to it" Hyewun said to herself as she quietly closed the door behind her

 The boy didn't seem to notice her yet so Hyewun continued walking towards the boy. Suddenly as Hyewun was about to approach the boy he said something. 

"Stop" the boy said

 Hyewun gasped. "How'd you know I was here".

"It's like you have eyes on the back of your head geez" Hyewun said as she let out an exaggerated shiver

 The boy quietly chuckled and turned around. Hyewun quietly studied the boy's features. He had a sharp nose and big lips that were upturned, making him seem like he was smiling.

 "What are you doing up here?" he asked

 "What are YOU doing up here?" Hyewun asked backed

"You're not suppose to be here"

 "Neither are you"

 "Well debateable" the boy lead on

 "Whatever" Hyewun rolled her eyes

 "So seriously, what are you doing here? I've never even seen you before plus people rarely come up here" the boy said

 "I'm new, just arrived today" Hyewun said

 "I see, already getting into trouble?" the boy joked

 "Oh shut up"

 "So what's your name" the boy asked

 "You first" Hyewun said raising an eyebrow

 "Fine, my name's Jake" Jake said

 "Jake... ok not bad" Hyewun said.

"I'm Hyewun, Nice to meet you, I guess" Hyewun said

 "Soooo" Hyewun said

 "What grade are you in?" she asked

 Jake hesitated a bit before answering.

 "I'm in 12th grade" Jake said

 "Oh so a grade above?" Hyewun said

 "I mean I guess, I don't really know you" Jake said

 "Oh well I'm in 11th grade, in case you haven't figured out yet" Hyewun rolled her eyes

 "I have now" Jake said

 "Yeah yeah" Hyewun said as she pulled out her lunch

 "Are you one of the losers who eat lunch on the roof too?" Hyewun asked

 Jake nods.

 "My friends used to eat with me" Jake sighed

 "So why don't they anymore?" Hyewun asked

 "Eh I guess they've moved on" Jake said

 "Moved on? How can you just move on from a friend?" Hyewun said

 "Some friends they were" she scoffed

 "I don't blame them, I wouldn't stick around forever either"

 Hyewun just shook her head. 

"Anyways, you look like you don't have a lunch, want some of mine?" Hyewun asked

 Jake shook his head. 

"Oh come onnnn, my mom made too much so don't feel bad about eating all of it" Hyewun said, as she held up a chip to Jake

 "I'm good seriously, I eat in all my classes anyways so by lunch time I'm always full" Jake said

 "Okkk if you say so" Hyewun said

 Hyewun began hungrily shoving her food in her mouth. 

"Man, my classes really make me hungry" Hyewun said as she guzzled down juice

 Jake just laughed looking at her.

 "So what do you like to do?" Hyewun asked

 "I enjoyed physics and I liked playing soccer" Jake said

 "So you don't like doing those anymore?" Hyewun asked

 "Huh?" Jake said

 "You made it sound like those were things of the past" Hyewun scoffed

 "Well you know what I mean" Jake said correcting himself

 "Duhhh I'm not dumb" Hyewun said

 "You know, I would've been a senior this year too if it weren't for the fact that I got held back in 1st grade" Hyewun said

 "I'm sorry but how could you get held back in 1st grade?" Jake laughed

 "STOP LAUGHING" Hyewun screamed

 "Sorry sorry, I'm just in a silly goofy mood right now" Jake said still trying to stifle his laugh

 "Hey! It wasn't anything serious, it wasn't like I was dumb or anything" Hyewun quickly defended herself

 "I just may or may have not fought a girl and made her end up with a broken knee cap" Hyewun said

 "WOAH! NO WAY" Jake exclaimed

 "Now I'm kinda scared of you geez" Jake said

 "You should be scared of me from the moment I walked onto the rooftop" Hyewun rolled her eyes

 Hyewun looked at her phone to see the time.

 "OH NO! We're practically late!" Hyewun exclaimed as she frantically packed up her lunch

 Jake just laughed as he watched Hyewun struggle to shove everything back into the lunchbox. Hyewun rushed to the exit of the rooftop before turning back to Jake.

 "Aren't you coming too?"

 "Nah you go first, I'll be there soon I just have to get my book bag" Jake replied

 Hyewun nodded before exiting the rooftop. On the way back to class, Hyewun realized how strange this boy she met was. 

"Hm, he didn't even have a book bag with him when I saw him and who used past tense words to describe their hobbies nowadays?!?"

 Hyewun rushed back into her class and took her seat at the table with Sunoo and his friends. 

"Hey guys" Hyewun said as she rushed back into her seat

 "Where were you? You're hair's a mess" Sunoo said

 "Gee thanks" Hyewun rolled her eyes

 "Hey, I'm just being honest" Sunoo said

 "Whatever" Hyewun said

 "But since you guys care sOoO much about me and where've I've been, don't tell anyone but"

 Hyewun leaned in, making the others lean in out of curiosity as well. 

"I went on the oh so forbidden rooftop" Hyewun whispered

 Jungwon and Ni-ki gasped.

 "Just thinking about that place gives me the chills" Ni-ki says

 "Why? do you have a fear of heights?" Hyewun teased

 'Well that, and people have been saying that someone died up there a fear years ago" Ni-ki said

 "Ugh you guys are all scaredy cats, plus people are probably just saying that so that people don't disturb them while they smoke and fool around on the rooftop" Hyewun scoffed

End of the day: Hyewun and the others dashed out of the school as soon as the bell rang. 

"So guys where should we hang out today?" Jungwon asked

 "Cafe?" Ni-ki said

 "Nah we went there last week" Sunoo said

 While the others were busy finding a place to hang out, Hyewun looked up to the rooftop she was on. 

And she swore she could see Jake peering over the edge of the building once again.
