He stood straight, stunned by the revelation. His mind seemed to stop working and every second felt like a decade. Painful past, buried deep inside him erupted and without thinking about anything else except the pain, he strode out.

She sat silently with a stoned face, curled up within herself on the steps of the temple. Tears that had sprung out from her eyes and traced down her cheeks had now disappeared after staining her face. Her eyes were hollowed from the emotions that floated a while ago.

She felt his presence nearby, but as she stood up, she faced not him but the unexpected.

"You were right. Your Amma hasn't done anything." He stated matter-of-factly

Her eyes ignited for a moment but as the cold wind blew past brushing her, she heaved a sigh sat back dejected, "what do you want Shyam Ji?"

"I don't want anything now Khushi Ji. But I did need something before."

"Same old tales Shyam Ji?"

"Well, you can say that Khushi Ji but I must tell you that the fiery spirit you showed today is something I've admired in you long back."

"You are disgusting Shyam Ji! And pathetic too." Her voice echoed in the silent night as she let out a small chuckle.

"Oh, Khushi Ji." He said nonchalantly, "this attitude has led you to this day!! If only you'd have let everything the way it was, then we wouldn't be sitting here."

"Let's face it, Shyam Ji. You can never get me."

"I would have Khushi Ji if you'd still hate Arnav as you did before!"

"I honestly don't understand why you hate him so much. You practically live on his money and use his sister. You should be grateful to him for giving so much to an unworthy person like you!"

"You still don't understand Khushi Ji. I came here for a reason. I came here to tell you that the world wouldn't have raised fingers at your aunt today if you'd never had fallen in love with Arnav Singh Raizada."

She fumbled with her dupatta quietly before speaking, "So you are doing this all to us because you hate Arnav Ji."

He shook his head and stood up, "you got it half right but the reason I came here was to tell you that I didn't mean anything to happen to you. You chose to enter into the circle of my vengeance and anyone who enters in my territory pays a price."

"You are so pathetic Shyam Ji." She chuckled once again showing no signs of emotion.

His face twitched with fieriness, "Let me just tell you Khushi Ji that the world isn't black and white. There's grey too and I'm not an unbiased person. I have my reasons to do what I'm doing."

She watched him leave and stood up the very moment, vowing to be the one to win this war by herself.

"Where is Khushi?"

A voice boomed through the empty hall where the holy fire remained lighted. The three ladies and the man faced him. Her sister stepped forward, her face cleared from emotions. Her clear voice echoed inside him as heard the words he despised, "She left."
