It's been a week since you left your dress at the Tyburs and you still haven't been able to get it back. Your parents have been working you over time since Willy Tybur is setting up his declaration of war ceremony, which happens to be today.
You didn't expect it to come so soon, but it looks like Marley is getting ready to bring the fight to Paradis. This means things might get a little stressful here.
"You do realize it's tonight right," your dad hands you a bag of sugar from the shelf. "I'm not letting you go out with a crowd like that."
"Dad I won't even be near it," you lie. "I just need to go pick up some more ingredients."
"Not happening," he scoffs. "You can work with what we have or at least just go tomorrow. All the Eldians are going to be a one place. That's disaster waiting to happen."
"They're not that-"
"They're devils, y/n! You're not that dense are you?" He glares at you, silencing any arguing you still have him now.
If he's not going to let you go out, you'll just have to sneak out tonight and go to the Tyburs residence. You're sure their butler will be there to get the dress back, so you're not too worried.
You pour sugar into the mixture and then grab the wet ingredients to add. Once you finish making some chocolate chip cookies, you can go home, so you're trying hurry.
The cookies are now in the oven and heating up slowly, so you sit on the table and watch them tiredly. Your eyes flicker from the fire to the back door.
You keep expecting Armin to walk through it, even though it's been months. Spring is here now and that means winter is gone and so is the distant memories of Armin. He's melted away just like the snow.
There's a part of you that still is holding on though. It could just be because of Eren's words or even the hope in your heart that you'll see him again. But you know you're not ready to let him go yet and it makes you feel pathetic. Pathetic that some boy you hardly know is the only thing to make you feel happy.
To feel like yourself.
"I'm heading home now," your dad peers through the crack in the door. "Don't be late for dinner."
"Okay," you mumble and watch him leave.
You weren't at the cafe much longer because the cookies were done in no time. You head home to get dinner started so you can tell your parents you're going to bed early.
That's when you'll be able to sneak out your window and go get that dress back before your mom has time to notice.
~
The door is open when you arrive, so you step in and close it behind you. There's an eerie feeling in the air and when you get to your room, you understand why.
It's a mess.
Things are tossed around and your bed is no longer resting securely on the bed frame. You lift it up and find that the money you got from the Tyburs is gone.
All of it.
You've been mad before. Real mad. But this is pure rage. It's a feeling that burns in your chest and makes your stomach ache.
"You had no right..." you grind your teeth together, trying to keep your breathing under control as you storm into the living room.
