To my soulmate

To my soulmate,
I hope that you are kind.
I hope that you are warm,
Like spring time in September,
when kids come out to play again,
after winters storms.

I am not ready for you yet.
But when you come,
One day far,
I will be a reflection of everything
that I expect.

You will not be broken,
I will not have to pick up
your parts.
You will not be vengeful,
We will teach each other new ways
to be kind to ourselves.

You will not teach me how to love,
I will learn long before you ever come.
You will not be insecure,
You will not suffocate me in ways
that will deter my growth.

You will be whole long before
I ever make my arrival.
And you will remain whole
if ever I am to leave.
You will cry,
But like myself,
You will find comfort in your faith
that we will reunite once again.

We will not be afraid.
You will give me your heart
without a moment of hesitance,
And I will reciprocate with
the same feeling of intensity.

I am still young,
I am still learning the ways
of my own heart.
I am healing,
and I am learning not to recycle
the trauma from my past.

So when we meet,
one day far.
You will be who I am waiting for,
And I will welcome you with
an unguarded heart.
