It was around 2am.

The pale, raven haired man was sitting on his bed.
He already counted all of the spots on the ceiling.

Levi sighed and got up.
'Sitting around wasn't gonna do anything' he thought to himself, and decided he might as well do some paperwork.

He got a clear view out the window from his chair.

It was pitch black outside.

Even so, Levi was wondering what a certain person might be doing at this time.

'Tommorow is exhibition day, eyebrows is probably getting some rest' he thought.

Somehow, that thought made him kinda sad. Levi was sitting here, all alone. He wished he was able to join Erwin.

"Shit" he whispered to himself.
Levi had been an insomniac for as far as he could remember.

He usually got a single hour of sleep, maybe two if it was after a hard day

His eyelids were half closed, he was practically begging to get at least a wink of sleep. Unfortunately enough, it seemed like this was going to be another sleepless night for Levi.

Levi quickly stood up and walked to the window. He pulled it down just enough to climb through. Sitting on the edge, he let his mind wander away. Thinking about nothing in particular.

The feeling of overwhelming loneliness was wearing him down every day.

As the heichou of the corps, he couldn't let himself get attached to people.

Even so, he wanted something more than having lunch with someone every day and eventually writing down their name on the casualty list when they die.

He tried not to, but he had obvious favorites. Wasn't it horrible? 'Not all lives are worth the same' it was a sick thought

No matter your relationship with someone, they were still a human being. How was one's worth even judged?

Strength? Intelligence? Leadership? Courage?

No.
It was simply how Levi felt about them.

It was horrible.
But Levi didn't care about all people equally.

Levi's mind wandered to one man in particular. Erwin Smith. The commander of the survey corps.

He and Erwin were close, that's no secret. But Levi was an Ackerman. Simply put on this earth to be a slave.

He was put on this earth to obey orders from the one he was bound to. That person was Erwin.

He was just Erwins slave.
His wish was Levi's command.

He felt something wet drip down his cheek. He was....crying?

Humanities strongest solider, Levi Ackerman. The man known for being emotionless, cold and stoned faced.....was crying.

~Erwin's side~

'This paperwork is going to be the end of me' The tall male thought.

It was around 3am.
Erwin had been sitting at his desk for the last four hours.

He decided to go on a stroll around the hq.
He took a hand-held lantern, taking one step into the hallway.

No light was coming through the doors, except one of them.

'Levi...'
Levi's insomnia was not a new discovery. The man's purple eyebags were just further proof of that.

'We have an expedition tomorrow, I better tell him to get some rest'

Erwin knocked on the door twice.

"Levi?"

No response.

"Levi? Are you there? It's Erwin."

Erwin gently pulled the doorknob.

"Levi?"

The window was half open.
Erwin walked up to it.

"Levi? What are you doing?"

The short man was sitting on the edge of the window, dangling his legs.

His eyes were unnaturaly shiny, they looked teary.

"E-Erwin?" Levi stammered, flinching a little.

"Careful." Erwin said, reaching out his hand.
Levi hesitantly took it.

Erwin pulled Levi back into the room.
"What are you doing here at this hour?" Erwin asked.

"I was just getting some fresh air" Levi said quietly.

"Well, you should go to sleep. We have an expedition tommorow."

"You know full well I won't, eyebrows" the shorter man replied aggressively.

"Levi. Go to sleep, please."

"Leave me alone, Erwin."

"That's an order, Levi"

~Levi's side~

"That's an order" Erwin left with that statement.

Levi sat on the bed, Erwin's voice ringing in his ears.

"That's an order"

Ah.

"That's an order"

Those words were too familiar to Levi.

"That's an order"

That's all Levi was good for.
Being treated like a dog.

Levi licked two of his fingers and put out the candle.
"Tch" he said as the flame burned his fingers.

He layed down and closed his eyes, knowing he wasn't going to fall asleep any time soon.

His head was spinning, he lost track of time.

-TIME SKIP-
He hadn't gotten a wink of sleep.
He heard a knock on the door.
Then another one.

The door swung open.

"LEVIIII!!" Hange was now inches away from Levi's face

Levi swung his fist and Hange barely dodged it

"Fuck off shitty glasses, I'll get up"

"Okay! I already woke up Moblit, he's gonna be riding with you and me in the back"
Hange responded excitedly

Levi just sighed

"OOOH I WONDER WHAT KIND OF TITANS I'LL SEE THIS TIME?!" Hange screamed, already foaming at the mouth

"Get the fuck out."

Hange left, closing the door behind them.
He was mean to Hange again.

He didn't mean to come off so rudely.
