The meeting⁵

"Erwin....meeting....hmph" Levi muttered, rubbing his eyes

He was instructed to put a bandage over his eyes, as to prevent the wound opening until it fully healed

'Fuck that'

Levi didn't have time to do that, nor did he care enough

He slipped his jacket on and started making his way to Erwin's office

What was he going to say?

Erwin surely needed an explanation to this.

"Why?"

One word and it'll all be over for Levi.

"I couldn't complete my mission"

It was foolish of Levi to trust that Hange would signal him

Even with Moblit, he should have been there.....right?  

Levi opened Erwin's office door, not bothering to knock

"Oh. Levi."

"Hello, Erwin."

He sat on a chair, his legs not reaching the ground.

'Humiliating..'

He quickly slipped down the chair.
He was practically sitting on the edge now.

"Levi? Why are you not wearing bandages? As far as I know, those wounds are too fresh to be left unprotected..."

"I don't care, what do you want?"

"Levi. I need to talk to you about the last expedition."

"What is it eyebrows? You lead the damn thing. Why do you think I'm some sort of all-knowing being?"

"Levi. You know what I'm talking about. Don't play dumb with me."

"Oh? Really, know?"

"Yes.....please, Levi. Tell me what happened with section commander Hange."

"You think I know? Go ask Mo-" he stopped mid-sentence

They both fell silent

"Levi. Just tell me what happened." Erwin furrowed his eyebrows, visibly frustrated

"I don't know eyebrows. Hange got eaten, what's so special about their death? Suddenly when it's Hange, there's more to it?" Levi hoped his bluff was working

But Erwin knew him better.

"Just tell me why you failed!" Erwin practically shouted

Why.

Just tell me why.

"Is it that important that I failed?! You failed many times, getting many people killed! Suddenly because it's Hange now making mistakes is a crime?! I couldn't fucking protect them, okay?!" Levi shouted, jolting upright

Erwin stayed silent.

"I don't fucking know, Erwin. They were probably reckless again."

With those words, he left.

As soon as Levi left, Erwin punched the wall.

"Calm yourself, Smith!"

Levi made his way back to his room.

He felt bad about lashing out at Erwin.
He was the one in the wrong here, not Erwin.

Even though he managed to bluff his way through the meeting he knew Erwin wasn't buying it. If Levi could avoid Erwin for long enough, the topic would become irrelevant and Erwin wouldn't bring it up.
