-Honnouji Academy-

Mikisugi was writing on the whiteboard and teaching his class... Well trying to if it weren't for a certain student glaring at him. The student two seats away from her was unapologetically uninterested in the class until he heard Mikisugi say something that caught his attention.

Mikisugi: The Prime Minister of the Empire, Chouri, was brutally murdered by general Esdeath under the command of soon to be the next Prime Minister, Honest. Honest later murdered the former Emperor by poisoning his drink little by little until he died, and later did the same to his wife forcing his young son to take over the Empire. It was at this point and time that the Empire became a living hell for the people living in it. Any questions?

One hand was raised.

Student: Why are there all of those super dangerous monsters down there, why aren't there any cars down there and why is the year 1093 for the people down there?

Mikisugi: I thought I covered this already. [Sigh] Can someone please answer his question.

Nobody in the class raised their hand so Mikisugi tries his hardest to avoid Ryuko's death stare and finds Tatsumi who was shaking his knee while looking both bored and irritated at the same time.

Mikisugi: How about you Tatsumi? Can you-

Tatsumi: First, they're there because they had to adapt to the much harsher environments and other monsters in their areas. Second, they couldn't because it'd just be way to dangerous and expensive to drive a car or a motorcycle in places where beasts could easily destroy them, hell I didn't even know what a car or motorcycle was until a few days ago. Three, that calendar year is based off of how long the Empire has been up for. Some of the people who ruled that place idolized the first Emperor so much that they viewed him as a higher being and so they made the new calendar to honor his "legendary status."

Mikisugi: Correct, Correct, and Correct. Thank you for answering, Tatsumi. Heh, at this rate I think you should be the one teaching this subject.

Tatsumi: [Muttering] Anything to get you to stop talking about it...

Hearing that name made the boy's skin crawl, he had already dealt with the worthless waste of human oxygen and all of the shit he and his friends had to be put through because of his greed. Just hearing his name made him livid, luckily for him, the bell had rung, freeing him from this lesson.

Tatsumi: Finally! Couldn't bear hearing that bastard's name again.

Ryuko gets up and walks over to Tatsumi's desk.

Ryuko: Tatsumi, I'm gonna go get some answers outta the teacher. Wanna come with?

Tatsumi: Yeah, it's not like I have anything else to do.

Ryuko: And after that, I got some questions for you too.

Tatsumi: *Hesitantly* W-What for?

Ryuko: I want to get to know you more. If we're going to be friends, then it's only natural that I'd be curious about you. And besides, anyone with a pair of eyes can tell that you ain't normal... B-But not in a weird way though, you're pretty cool in my eyes but-

Tatsumi: Yeah, Yeah, I get it. Just don't take things too far. My past ain't exactly something I like talking about.

Ryuko: O-Okay then. Just tell me when to stop and that'll be that 'kay?
