Adrian Ivashkov

Just as Rufus started to read from the coronation scroll, I noticed Janine and Abe shed a few tears. They had both waited for this day for a very long time. The day my cousin's true title and who she was to be announced to everyone. Eagerly awaiting this day was also Aunt Tatiana. She, just like Rose, wore a beautiful gown that was very befitting of her, and jewels adorned her neck. Her grin widely seated on her ever-expanding face, eyebrows glued together in tight harmony, concentrating on what Rufus said.

"Queen Tatiana, today we are here to crown your successor, the new Queen. I dread to ask, but the laws of our people demand I ask these questions. Are you, Tatiana Marina Ivashkov, free of mind as you dictate who is to be crowned? Are you free of mind as you hand down the Crown and Throne?"

I grinned as Aunt Tatiana nodded, her eyes clear of any uncertainty. "I am. I am doing this of my own will and thoughts, I am not compelled as our own royal spirit users can verify." Everyone looked at Lissa and me to which we both nodded.

Rufus turned to the crowd, his face one of excitement and pride. "Today, the crowned Princess Rosemarie has asked for the coronation to be changed. As we all know, Rosemarie is the first Dhampir to be crowned, not only as a Princess, but also as a Queen. Because of that, she has politely requested," I snickered at the use of 'polite'. Rose is everything but polite, but then again, it depended on the person. Rufus continued after sending me a sly and subtle smirk, "That a representative for Dhampirs be elected to ask her to questions and demands that are for her fellow Dhampirs. I present you, Head of the Guardians here at Court, Hans Croft."

The man who had been a huge part of making all this a possibility made his way up to the podium where Rose and Aunt Tatiana were. I felt sorry for Rose, she was still kneeling, but at least she had a comfy pillow, otherwise her knees would be screaming up a storm by now. As if she heard my thoughts, Rose turned to me and winked before facing forward. A stray thought that was not mine entered my mind, "They are killing me. I feel like a nun who has been sucking dick for a century."

I had to hide my face to cover up my snort. Trust Rose to make me create a scene at her own coronation. My face was probably bright red by now thinking of the situation her words sadly painted for me. That wasn't something that I had ever wished to envision my cousin in. Trying to rid my mind of her painting, I had missed half of Rufus' question to Hans, catching the tail end of it. "Do you, Hans Croft, enter this coronation of free will? Do you as a proud Dhampir free of mind elect Princess Rosemarie Rana Yvaine Ivashkov-Szelsky Badica to be our reigning Queen?"

Hans nodded, "Yes I am free in my own mind. Ask our noble Spirit users to verify me if it shall please you."

Once again, Lissa and I nodded. Hans was speaking the truth. That quickly settled that, and we pressed forward. The last person who was being brought in as an Archbishop was my own love, Sydney Sage.

Rufus frowned momentarily, before he broke out in a bright smile. "Today is truly a day for change. The last sworn in questioner for this coronation is someone who would never been able to stand up here before now. I ask you all to clap for the newest addition, Miss Sydney Sage, our to-be Queen's own Alchemist."

I was probably the loudest of those cheering. Trust me, everyone did indeed smile and cheer as the woman I loved with all my heart made her way up to the podium. She bowed at my aunt who had loved her ever since meeting her, and then to Rose, who was quick to get up from her position to hug Sydney before gracefully descending back onto the pillow. A typical Rose action, one that made everyone smile and gasp at the lovingly relationship between the human who had been brought up to think we were all evil creatures, and Rose.
