Different types of plots:
Main Plot
The main plot. You should know what that is already.
Mini plot
Opposite of the main plot. Kinda. It's more like the protagonist has something going on that would reveal more. Like a person has a successful occupation but really wants to do something else because it's their dream. You can combine the main plot with a mini plot. I don't know if this makes sense.
Subplots
A smaller plot to will help the main plot become more interesting. The subplot should NOT compete for title of the main plot.
