Together We're Safe

Looking the door to our new apartment, Laura & I decide to get some food.

"Hey, where we thinking bout shopping for furniture?" I chuckle from my best friends insanity thinking.

"The best place in the world of course" we then proceed to look at other for a moment.

"IKEA" we both say in unison.

"Where else would we shop Laura?" I playfully nudge her and get to the bottom of the building.

"Oh hush, I'm still excited about the new apartment. I can't believe how quick things are happening. We literally just booked a hotel yesterday — what are we going to do with that?" I raise one eyebrow wondering that myself, even though I partially already know.

"Well, I was thinking since it's already been booked for the week! We can stay there and order furniture to the apartment and we'll just go to the apartment when there's a delivery due?" I watch as Laura smiles widely excited for the new path we're about to embark on.

"Yep! I love the idea. We gonna look, order and buy today?" I smile nodding.

"I mean, we can maybe take a little road trip to a nearby one but it might be a little drive?" I see her considering the option.

"I mean, we could. Get some lunch, grab our jackets and head in the car. Is there enough fuel in the car for that type of journey?" I scoffed at the comment.

"Nah - I mean, yes. But I mean, don't worry about it. I'll refuel on the way if need be. What do you say? Wanna go?" She jumps excited and practically knocks into me pushing me off my balance.

"Whoa, easy dude. I get the excitement but no need to take me down with you" I chuckle catching her by the waist and lifting her up to put her back down on her feet properly.

"Sorry. Just really excited!" I nod understanding. Take her hand and exit the building.

"Where do you wanna go for dinner or do you wanna go for a wee rest and do the road trip tomorrow?" She stops at the question.

"I am hungry, hotel, rest is what we need to do now!" I nod grabbing Laur's hand and walking towards the hotel for the rest of the day.

"Hello there you two, any luck?" Laura continues to smile and be excited - except she didn't say anything in response so I answer Luke.

"Yep, we're both waiting to hear back about jobs, and we have found an apartment but we'll continue to stay here so that we can get some furniture delivered first. It won't be a proper home til there's pieces of furniture in it" Luke smiled wide.

"I'm glad everything worked out for you. Any other plans?" I nod pushing Laur towards the lift.

"I'll be 2 seconds darlin!" She nods walking away.

"Yes, we have a plan to go IKEA shopping tomorrow" Luke nods.

"I'm glad everything seems to be going your way. You have a good night, your lovely other half over there about to trip" I snap my attention to Laura and he's right. She's skipping and there's no doubt she'll trip any second.

"LAURA!" Thankfully she stops in her tracks and turns.

"What? Hurry up. I'm hungry" I laugh at her and nod thanking Luke.

"Okay okay, let's go" pressing the button on the lift to open it. We both step inside and press '4'.

"So, do we order or cook?" Laur stretches on top of the bed, moaning slightly — it sent a shiver down my back. In a good way.

"Think bout it this way, if we cook, we'll have more money -" I lifted my hand to stop her.

"Laura, with money isn't an issue okay?" She pressed her lips together and nodded.

"Well I'm good with whatever you decide to do then. I'm good either way. I mean, can we order food into the hotel?" I was stumped. I wasn't sure.

"I'm sure we can if we ordered it to the hotel and just went down for it?" She nods and opens her iMac.

"Let's see what it's the area then shall we?" I jump onto the bed, Laura practically moved off it an inch from the bounce impact.

"Dude, seriously?" I grab my pillow to hide behind it, guilty.

"Sorry Laur, didn't realise that would happen. Get looking will you?" We both laugh at my goofiness. But to be fair, I was being goofy because I didn't want to Laura being mad at me. Considering the fact when I jumped onto the bed, her iMac nearly went off the bed...

"Okay, what's available?" I watched as she googled places around. But the first thing that showed up was a company called uBer. A delivery service from the looks of it.

"We should get a..." there was options for such a small area. Granted there was tons of houses and fair good amount of shops.

"Why don't we do simple and go for a pizza? I'll research a gym" she nods looking for the closet pizza place whilst I Google a nearby gym.

"There's a pizza place around 5 mins drive from here, not bad! We'll get it delivered!" I nod, checking the distance for the gym I found too.

"The gym is also 5 mins drive away" we look at other for a moment.

We both check the distance of the places we've found.

"Who would've thought the take out place would right next door to the gym" we both shake our heads. It's blooming crazy.

"You order the food, try for cash and I'll sign us both up for the gym?"

"Yeah, awesome! I could do with a gym membership" as she agrees happily with me, I start the sign up process with my details first.

"Laura, where's the lease?" She doesn't say anything but grab her bag and pulls out a plastic clipped folder.

"Heh, thanks!" She clicks her tongue still staring at the laptop.

I type the new address of our apartment into the sign up form and submit the application. According to their policy they were having a half off deal if signed up before a certain day. We still met the criteria. I already knew Laura's information so filling hers in was easy.

Pressing submit, both gym memberships were off and now it was just waiting for them to arrive at our apartment.

"Food has been ordered!" I sigh happily, grabbing the remote from the night stand and replacing it with my phone.

"Good let's watch a little TV before it gets here then" she nods agreeing with me. Keeping the laptop open so we can track the progress of the food.
