Main idea: Nightmare and his gang beat Ink - who was alone - and celebrated. Unbeknownst to them, Ink had never woken up or recovered from that battle. Nightmare and Error don't realize that.

Nightmare purchases a black and white painting of a lonely skeleton in a white void, covered in bandages and these weird, black squiggly lines on his bones. He hangs it somewhere in the castle.

He doesn't realize what he's brought himself into until he see the painting blink.

Even worse, he simply can't get rid of it.

Alternatively: Error, a college student, rents out an apartment. He finds an old painting that the previous tenant had left behind. It's a painting of a skeleton with a black ink splotch on his cheek, with brown and white clothes. He hangs it; it really is rather pretty, you know.

One day, while he works on an art assignment, he hears a voice behind him.

"You know there's an easier way to do that, right?"

Extra: Ink became a painting after dying in the OG world. Only someone like Nightmare can restore him to his actual self.

Extra extra: Everyone is looking for him because of his importance to the balance.
