Mondstadt was the symbol of peace. It bustled in the day and slept quietly in the night.
But there were those who move in the shadows, acting as the night watch that guarded the city's peace. Whether they came from Dawn Winery or the Church of Favonius, there was always someone awake in the night, waiting to punish evil.
But a particular person didn't act in the night just to purge evil or deliver retribution. This person acted out of irritation and with a profound sense of violence.
Untouchable as they were due to their diplomatic ties with the Knights of Favonius, the Fatui were still people. They could be defeated and be forced to submit if done properly.
Nobody was allowed to go near their hotel. But it was also thanks to this haughty display of power that no one could see the hotel's lights flicker or hear the muffled screams and thuds within.
Another Fatui agent dropped unto the floor, joining the many others that keeled over without a chance to retaliate. Agents and diplomats alike scattered in the lobby and the corridors. One would have thought them dead if it weren't for their weak grunts.
The chandeliers flickered dimly, giving the nearly dark hotel lobby an ominous setting. Only when it was dark would a pair of eyes glow a bright shade of yellow.
Soleil glared down at a diplomat that tried to get up. She raised a leg and slammed it down, causing the diplomat to cough painfully and faint.
She side-glanced when she saw a female diplomat running towards the lobby, trying to run away. Soleil simply took out her gunblade and shot at the chandelier.
The chandelier dropped unto the ground with a violent crash, blocking the exit with shattered candlesticks. The female diplomat screamed and fell on her backside.
She froze when she heard a pair of heels clicking slowly on the ground, as if taunting her. She turned and saw Soleil towering over her with a deadly look.
"Get away from me! How dare you attack the Fatui? The Harbingers will hear about this and they'll–Hyaaah!" The female diplomat screamed when a round of Electro shots blasted the ground surrounding her.
She scurried backward fearfully, dropping her mask in the process. Her eyes widened and tried to reach for the black mask. But another gloved hand got to it first.
Soleil examined the mask and turned it a few times. Then, she sneered at the diplomat shivering lightly.
"Masks. Just because you can hide your face, you diplomats act high and mighty with Jean and boldly attempt to intimidate her," she said, "But when you are exposed, you act like sheep for slaughter. You get scared. Isn't that annoying?"
"W-What do you want?! If you want mora, then there's a stash inside one of the rooms! Just leave me alone!" the diplomat yelled. She paled when Soleil held up a broken candlestick against her neck, threatening to spill blood.
"I'm not here for your shitty mora," a shadow loomed over Soleil's emotionless face, "But I am here to collect a debt."
Rapid footsteps thudded from behind. Soleil acted in time to raise her weapon and slice down, a surge of Pyro stringing after.
The attacking Fatui agents were hit by the fire and stumbled back in pain. Dark smoke seeped into the room and they began screaming, rolling on the floor while clawing at their body with horrified looks.
The female diplomat shaked more to see this and looked at Soleil. "P-Please... A-Agh!" she began to cry when Soleil pointed the barrel at her face.
"Don't ask me to spare you, to have mercy, or not to kill you. Your superiors had none of that when they began creating monsters in Dragonspine. What was it again?" Soleil tilted her head, "'Colossus I'?"
