A love letter to the One I'm losing

Always on my mind now,
I can hardly think clear.
Don't believe in fate,
but it's like something out of Shakespeare.

Perfect person,
makes it so painful to lose you.
Right place, right time,
but I still couldn't choose you.
Our tragedy, like others won't bring any fame,
but sickness is harder to fight than a name.

Visit you and wonder if it's the last time I'll see you smile.
Can we just lie here and talk for a while?
Wrapped in your arms I could have reckoned,
the stars had uncrossed, if just for a second.
Fell in love with an angel,
that I always knew.
Didn't know these moments together,
would be so few.
So in love with the sound of your laugh,
promised you my life but we could only share half.

We make plans for the future
say we'll travel,
we both know we're lying.
Can't admit to each other
we both know you're dying.
Now I'm in my car, driving home
can't stop crying.
You tell me your sorry,
I know we're both trying.

Write poetry at the foot of your bed,
as you gently plant kisses on top of my head.
This world had brought us together,
just to tear us apart.
When you pass,
so will a piece of my heart.

Dark are the times,
As you are my light.
Dull are these moments.
But memories still bright.
Visit during the day
You're holding me tight,
We know that it's always hardest at night.

Now they say you only have a couple months left,
For us time was both a blessing and theft.
And though they say you wouldn't get better,
I'd like to address, to you this love letter.
So even if you don't survive,
If just in words I'll keep you alive.
So hard to picture my life without your existence,
you in heaven, I earth.
Can we call that long distance?
