# ! | CHAPTER FIFTY
- they finally get some
team bonding

━━━ A LOT HAPPENS IN
the next four weeks. Spencer sells his apartment, Meryl sells her house, and they begin the process of moving into their "haunted hideaway", as Garcia had dubbed it the first weekend she came to help move.

At first, it had been a little tedious as they got furniture situated and decided what stayed, what got donated, and got banished to the storage closet in the basement. But now, on Saturday, May 5th of 2012, things are finally coming together. Spencer's knickknacks are arranged on his large mahogany desk, his few pairs of shoes across from Meryl's almost comical collection of heels, Vans, and Converse alike.

"I think you have a problem," Spencer told her as he got to a box of hers that purely contained red bottom heels.

Meryl had just laughed. "Wait till you see my collection of highly complicated and not at all functional lingerie."

They'd agreed on almost every design choice. Spencer had brought home this old timey vinyl record player, to which Meryl had excitedly ran to go show him all her records, ranging from Mozart to Elvis to Fall Out Boy. They'd cleaned the kitchen to the tune of Heartbreak Hotel and then played Monopoly to This Ain't A Scene all in the span of a single afternoon.

Their friends had all been by to get the last push of moving done, which mostly included books upon books upon books. Morgan and Meryl sit in the car together on the last trip, bumping Pop Smoke and Eminem, but then he turns the radio down.

"You've done wonders for boy wonder, sweet thing. I just wanted to tell you that, y'know, when the little twerp isn't around to hear it." He looks at the side of Meryl's face as she drives, more specifically the little grin that curls her lips at his words.

She shrugs. "I'm sure he was doing alright before I came along. Though you can be damn sure that bright yellow button down is going to mysteriously disappear sometime in the near future. Thank me then."

Derek smirks but then becomes genuine again. "You guys are really good together, honestly."

"So are you and Pen. I'll break your fucking face if you ever, ever mess around with her, though. I don't care if you've known her longer." Meryl nearly folds into laughter when she sees how Derek's face falls at her threatening tone.

He makes some joke about doctor's orders under his breath and then a peaceful silence drifts over the car for all of the two seconds before Without Me starts playing at the two normally composed people are rapping their little hearts out.

Back at her previous house, the entire team along with a few of Meryl's friends from the FBI volleyball team, the USOU, and Derek's muscular teammates reconcile around the now empty living room.

Rossi, ever the instigator, hands her a small roll of packing foam to use as a microphone. "Speech! Speech!"

Spencer watches fondly as a blush gallops up to stampede across her cheeks. No matter how confident she acted, he could read her like a book. And he is very, very good at reading books.

Meryl taps the foam. "This thing on? Okay, okay. Well primarily, thank you all for putting your already limited free time to the side in order to come help us. Though I'm not surprised you didn't have other plans - this job, right?" Her comment earns a few laughs, one of her tall African American teammates replying with an "amen". "Kidding. A little bit. All of you are here to help because you chose to and that means the world to me. My kitchen at the new place isn't fully finished yet, otherwise I'd make you all dinner but instead, how about you pretty people get all dolled up and I'll foot the tab at Opera."
