Summary:

One day, out of the blue, the world was ravaged by an unknown virus, killing every infected human over the age of 13, while the children that remained were enslaved by the vampires that emerged from the bowls of Earth. Hyakuya Yuuichirou (Irino Miyu) is one of those survivors, now living underground, treated like livestock by the vampires. Along with his friend, Hyakuya Mikaela (Ono Kensho), who he grew up with in a orphanage, he dreams of one day escaping captivity and taking vengeance on all vampires. The pair come up with a plan to get to the outside world, but their attempt ends in tragedy as only one is able to make it out safely. However, once on the surface, Yuuichirou meets with the Japanese Imperial Demon Army, who seek to ally with him in order to avenge those he has lost to the vampires.

Own opinion:

Number 4 on my list. First of all I have a question for you. Has there been a hole inside you ever since Ao No Exorcist had ended? If yes then this is for you! Because I think of Owari no Seraph as the little brother to Ao no Exorcist; they’re both in the same style, tell similar stories, and run in the same magazine. I’ve not read too far into the source material, but I know that the dramatic beginning is followed by a timeskip, and a shift to a school setting, similar to Ao no Exorcist– and I’m sure the similarities don’t end there. And Wit Studio have proven themselves with Shingeki no Kyojin, so my expectations are set pretty high for this one. Owari no Seraph is also going to be split-cour, with its second cour airing in Fall, so you can expect a lengthy story to be told over the course of 2015. If you’re a fan of vampires and dark fantasy, or if you’ve been left feeling empty since Ao no Exorcist’s anime ended, then this will be a worthy pick up.
