APSEN'S date with River was going well, neither of them had really talked about anything personal or on a deeper level since the waitress brought them their food and milkshakes.

Now, though, River had just excused himself for a bathroom break, and as Aspen let out a deep breath, she decided upon two things. One, she needed some fresh air, and two, she wanted to give Lydia a call—she needed to tell someone how great this date was going, someone who'd be supportive of it. She'd also been going to Lydia about all of her River-related business, so it made sense to call the strawberry blonde.

She got up from her table and stepped outside for a moment, telling herself the call wouldn't be too long as she had to get back to River when he got back to the booth. She dug out her cellphone from the pocket of her leather jacket and scrolled through her contacts, clicking on Lydia's name. She let it ring for a bit as she held it up to her ear, her back leaning on the painted brick wall.

"Lyds!" she said in delight as she heard the other end of the line pick up, "I just wanted to call to update you, you made me promise I would and stuff—"

"The date?" said the Martin girl through the phone, "Is it going well? From the chipperness in your voice I'm guessing it is,"

"Great is an understatement," Aspen smiled into the phone, spinning around to peek through the window to see if River had returned to the table yet which he hadn't, "He's... he's funny, he's sweet, he's... he's kind of perfect..."

"I'm..." Lydia hesitated by accident, "I'm so happy for you, Asp. Sounds like you're really happy..."

Aspen immediately frowned as she held the cellphone to her ear. Her eyebrows furrowed as she tilted her head in response, even though Lydia couldn't see the skeptical expression that just flooded her face.

"What is it?" the Bellator girl suddenly said without the chipper tone through the phone.

"Hmm?" Lydia hummed in response.

"Somethings up," Aspen said bluntly, "I can tell. What is it?"

"Nothing's up!" Lydia said in defence.

Aspen hummed for a moment, then dug her other hand into her jacket pocket as she stood away from the wall.

"What're you doing right now?" Aspen asked, the hesitant tone in her voice not being picked up from Lydia's end.

"I'm waiting for Parrish, at the sheriff station. Why?"

"Waiting to do what?"

"We're... trying to get in touch with Meredith... you know, banshee business and what-not."

"Weren't you gonna do that with Stiles?" Aspen asked, her skeptical voice finally being sensed by the strawberry blonde who was internally panicking on the other end of the line.
