Had she betrayed her pride too openly? If not, Mercy could easily spend days extolling her profound sense of pride in Heeseung. The urge to write an essay, an uncommon occurrence for her, gripped her after the cameras had ceased rolling. As they were granted the opportunity to personally congratulate the competition winners, Mercy envisioned going back to her dorm, opening her computer, creating a Google document, and pouring out her pride in a written tribute (perhaps even a fanfiction — Mercy and Heeseung: A Love Story).

No, absolutely not. Well, unless? No... no... no! But what if?

'I'm so proud of you,' Mercy expressed, grasping Heeseung's hand while attempting to maintain a formal appearance. No hugs, kisses, or excessive displays of affection — professionalism was crucial. It pained her not to express her love openly, just as it pained Heeseung. The unspoken emotions flickering in his gaze, the softness in his eyes, the love that threatened to bring tears to his eyes — all confined by the constraints of their professional image.

It was a cathartic yet frustrating feeling.

Crying wasn't her forte.

But loving, she relished.

To cry because of love was peculiar, to say the least.

'Thank you,' his voice carried a mix of gratitude and reverence, and she couldn't help but notice the subtle bobbing of his Adam's apple as he swallowed deeply. 'Mercy-sunbaenim.'

Mercy let out a gentle laugh, a melodic sound that held a touch of warmth. 'Mercy is just fine,' she assured him, her gaze drifting down to their entwined hands. A pang of emotion colored her eyes, and she felt a tender longing within. His thumb traced comforting circles over the back of her hand.

'I need to congratulate the others,' she whispered, her head turning to locate the rest of her members who were immersed in greeting the remaining trainees.

'Yeah,' Heeseung responded, his gaze following hers to their intertwined hands. 'Mercy, I—'

'I know,' she whispered, the words carrying a nuanced depth of understanding. 'I know. . .'

She exhaled a sigh and dropped his hand, giving him a gentle smile. 'I'll see you around.'

'Yeah. . .' The sadness in his voice was evident. 'I'll see you around.'
