"Yeah, I just wanted to get new pants." Kaiser is working on something, I do not know what but it keeps him busy. He is working on it in the basement, I told myself I will not interfere, would not want to find out things I do not like. Ignorance is bliss.

"Okay, let me wash my hands and put on a shirt." His gran and mom met my parents two weeks ago, it went well, I think it did. Our mother's get along quite well, which made me happy.

"Please bring my black takkies."

"The Adidas ones?" He screams from his room.

"Yeah." I quickly go into the kitchen to get cheese and crackers. I have been eating like there is no tomorrow and blaming it on Kat, I am loving this life. Kaiser cooks for us most of the time, I do not live here full time, but I kind of do because I am always and I have clothes here but some days I just go home to cuddle with my parents, they have been sources of light when I do not feel my best.

"Kamo?" I turn to face Kai who has my shoes in hand. We are getting better, we are growing, talking and learning. He talks more, which I am thankful for, I need to know all about him. He helps me put the shoes on. I can do it myself but he likes helping me with little things, big things, all things.

He bought a baby seat for his G-Wagon and that is all he ever drives. He helps me into my seat, I swear things are getting difficult to do on my own but I feel like it is too early to be needing so much help.

"So where are we going?" He asks backing out of the gate.

"Well, we could go to the nearest maternity shop or we could go to the one I want, it is not that far I promise."

"It is in Joburg, isn't it?"

"I mean, Road trip," I suggest.

"I should have pulled out." I punch his thigh

"You love me plus bonding time, all you ever do is stay in the basement." He is about to tell me what he is working on. "Don't tell me what you do."

"Okay. So what are we going to do in the three hours we are on the road."

"Well, talk, listen to my music and talk, eat a bunch because as you know Mama is eating for two."

"What do you want to talk about?"

"Tell me about your childhood, what was life like for you?"

"Uhm, it was full of adventure, I was a kid with no friends, a mom who worked a full-time job and a grandmother who was trying her best to be the best friend to a teenage boy. When my dad would come around I would be elated and he make me this other sandwich, awful but every time he made it I would smile because im spending time with my dad. That is all that was good."

"You have me as a friend now, you get to be friends with a pregnant teenager." I wiggle my eyebrows at him and he starts laughing, it is a beautiful sound to hear, I know Kat loves hearing it as much as I do.

"Tell me about your childhood, what was it like for you?"

"Perfect, I just wasn't. I was heavily depressed, I mean I am always depressed but in childhood, I would say things like " I want to sleep forever" it was a terrible time for all parties involved because I do not remember most of my childhood. My mom got a job to help with my therapy, medication and hospital stays. I am not as fragile as a few years ago which I know my parents are thankful for. I had my fair share of fun with my friends, going to parties and sleepovers, the full teenage experience. Now I have a baby to end my teenage years with."

"I did not know you have depression."

"I wish I could go around saying I have depression, it would be fun but then people get the pity face and it makes me feel guilty. I do however love it when people like you see my scars and don't ask or comment because it is none of your business and I should talk about it in my own time. I'm ranting again, you said you would stop me when I do this."

"I said I would if it is bothering me. It is not bothering me." Why is he like this?

"Wow okay. Are you excited to be a dad?"

"More terrified than anything else."

"Of being a bad father?"

"That and of being my father, would not wish that on anyone."

"I mean, you know how to cook so that is something."

"One point already."

"Yay!" We both laugh and I reach to the back to get my bag, there is always chocolate in here. I hand him half of the chocolate which he gladly accepts.

"One point to you, a million to me for literally creating Kat."

"Well done for doing that, I knew you had it in you." Another round of laughs from us. "Before I forget, I have a braai to attend and I would like you to come with me."

"Work relate?"

"In a way, the people I work with and their families, my friends will also be there."

"Pacer, Shadow and them?"

"Yeah."

"Okay, I will come. It is not on a school day right?"

"Of course not. It's on a Sunday. We are principled people."

"Of course, would expect nothing less from you and your boys, the squad." He lets out a chuckle,

We keep talking and soon we have arrived. We get out and walk into the store.

"That was fun wasn't it?" I ask as buckles his seatbelt.

"Not in the slightest, restaurant or drive through?"

"Drive through, please, I am extra hungry." He drives to the nearest drive-through and we order our food.

"Did you spend six hours on the road for clothes? Yes, you did but you got to spend time with your baby mama which is more important."

"Sure." He takes the bags to his bedroom, I will unpack them later. I waddle to the kitchen and grab the packet of crisps.

"Kai," I whine, I hear his footsteps, he stands in front of me "Are you tired?" He nods. "Okay, then give me your car keys I will go to the store?"

"I am not that tired."

"No, it's okay, you can go take a nap, I will join you when I come back." He shakes his head as he pushes me to his car.

"I will take you, mein kätzchen." I knew he would.

"You sure?"

"Yeah." He goes to the store and I grab as many snacks as I think will be enough for me, grab some fruit and yoghurt.

"Kamo!" I turn and there is Sam.

"Hi." I do a short wave. Kai is right behind me and I feel him get closer to me.

"How have you been?"

"Good, just growing a baby." We share a laugh and Kai does not laugh.

"Hello Kai, how are you?" Kai just nods

"Well it was nice seeing you," I say turning around and walking away, Kai behind me "You could have been nicer."

"I was."

"You are way too jealous."

"Just a normal amount and I don't like him." Wow.

"I know, thank you for being civil."

"Anything for you." He pays and carries the bag to his car.
