Change. If I could sum up my relationship with Kai, change would be the word I use. Since we met all I have had to do is adapt to the changes his presence brings.

We moved from Norfolk, a few months after Khanyi's fifth birthday, to Bali, Indonesia. We all had to learn Balinese which was not difficult for Kai and I as we both were multilingual when we met so it was a breeze.

Khanyi speaks four languages at six, Balinese, Sesotho, German and English. I am now a fluent German speaker and Kai is also fluent in Sesotho.

"Mama, Bisakah saya pergi bermain dengan Mimi?" Mimi is our dog, we got her after we realized, we are not having a second child. [Translation: Can I go play with Mimi?]

"Yes, don't go near the pool, okay?"

"Yes, Ma." She runs to the backyard. The garage door opens and a few minutes after, Kai walks into the kitchen.

"Hey Kitten."

"Hey baby, how was your meeting?"

"Let's not talk about work." He places his keys on the wall before he goes to sit on the couch. "I would like a hug though." I let out a chuckle before I head to where he is seated.

My legs are on his sides, I wrap my arms around his shoulders while he wraps his arms around my waist.

"I see how hard you work and I am proud of you, okay?" He nods into my chest.

"Daddy, are you okay?" He pulls out of my hold

"Daddy is okay, Princess, I just needed a hug from Mama."

"Can I get a hug too?"

"Yeah." We say in unison, she runs into our hold. "We love you." She giggles before she wiggles out of our hold to go play with Mimi.

I try to get up but he holds me down, he wraps his fingers around my chin and pulls me closer to him. I join our lips, I always enjoyed kissing him, it felt good, it made me feel wanted, worthy and worry-free.

"Okay, I need to go cook, baby."

"We will order."

"You sure?"

"Yeah."

"Okay, I get up and hold out my hand, he gets up before picking me up, carrying me to our bedroom.

After two years of trying to have another kid, we went to get tested and we both came back fine but it is as though, the universe is against a second child but we are happy with one child and a dog.

It is Khanyi's seventh birthday in a week and we are in Norfolk to celebrate with our family. We never sold our house so we can stay here.

"Ntate Molapo!" Khanyi runs to my dad, one thing about Khanyi, she loves running everywhere.

"Hey Dad," I say as he comes to hug us.
"Hey, Ntate."

"Where have you two been?"

"The same place we were last time." I retort as I look for a snack in the kitchen.

"No need to be smart. How long are you here for?"

"Two maybe three weeks, we have not decided."

"How is working as a secret service agent going?"

"I hate it, too much walking," Kai responds.

We thought it was best if we had lives outside of each other, so he started working as a secret service agent for the presidency of Indonesia and I started an online beauty and fashion brand.
