36: Brand New Chapter

"Kai, I am gonna be late!" He is taking his time getting the keys and I do not want to be late, I hate being late.

"You are not going to be late, breathe." I take a deep breath

"Get in the car."

Last week was the first week of classes and it was fun. I caught the hang of school and we got into a routine.

"Mama!" Khanyi has learnt a few words and we love hearing her call us.

"I'm going to school baba, I am going to miss you, my baby." A peck on her cheek and I close the door.

"Have a great day, going to miss you." His arms wrap around my waist and he joins our lips.

"I will be missing you." He chuckles

"See you after school?" A nod before I go to my first class of the day.

During class, Kai sent me pictures of Khanyi and if I am being honest, they are what kept me from going back home to my baby girl.

"Kamo, right?"

"Yeah, and you are?"

"Chris, in your communications, class."

"Oh, hi."

"Yeah, so I was wondering if you would like to be my study buddy?" I notice Kai waiting for me, leaning on the car, my handsome man.

"Uhm, sure. Listen I have to go, just text me and we can talk about the details from there." He nods and goes to his car.

"There is my smart girl." He is so annoying, I melt in his arms, I missed his presence today.

"How was she?" He opens the door for me

"She was well behaved, did not have to fight with her so it was good."

We got home and after I spent time studying, Kai and I trained for a while before we took Khanyi to the park.

Kai dropped me off in the morning, before taking Khanyi to Sibo's house because he is needed for a job in Johannesburg. If he can't pick me up, Sibo is going to.

I made friends in all my classes and we have been getting along well, we even study together sometimes.

"Kamo, we are going to sunset lounge tonight, you should come."

"Oh, I can't, I have a baby at home."

"Oh yeah, I forget, sorry."

"No, it is okay, you guys have fun." We keep walking until we get to the parking lot, they go to their cars and pickups. I wait for whoever is picking me up.

"Need a ride?" Chris asks as he stops his car in front of me.

"No, but thank you."

"Are you sure, it looks like it might rain?"

"Yeah, just waiting on my ride, thank you." He nods before driving off. Immediately, I call Sibo. She says she forgot about fetching me, what a best friend.

"They should steal your best friend badge."

"I am sorry baby, let me buy you ice cream." I nod and she heads to the Ice Cream parlour.

We walk in with Khanyi on my hip.

"Kamo?" Sihle calls out, she is one of my new friends.

"Hey, I did not know you guys were here."

"We just stopped here because of the rain."

"Oh okay."

"Is that her?"
