48: Pear?

Sibo and I are done before he comes home and all I had to do was wait for him, I wanted to do it later, at night and it is nearly two pm.

"I'm back." He walks in, places a kiss on Khanyi's forehead before sitting next to me.

"You okay?"

"More than anything." He smiles, there is mischief behind it.

"What?"

"I need you to cover your eyes, I want to take you somewhere." Now? Will we even be back for his surprise?

"With Khanyi?"

"Uhm, no. I asked your dad if he can look after her for a while and he said he would love to so just you and me." What does he have planned?

"More us time."

"Yeah, uhm your dad should be here soon to take her." He looks at his phone before looking out the window "There he is."

After we hand Khanyi over to my dad, they drive off back home and he turns to me "Can I please put the blindfold on?" I nod before he places it on. He leads me into the garage and then the car, he helps me in before closing the door.

"Where are we going?"

"You will find out, enjoy the music and think of all the places we could go then lower your expectations because it is me." Laughter erupts from me, he is so romantic and he downplays that, such a humble man.

I try to guess where we are going but I can not think of why I would need to have a blindfold. It is weird having no sight, I have to rely on my ears to guess and it is not going well because my brain is not having it.

"Okay, we are here." He steps out, the door closes and I wait for him to open the door. He tells me to stand still, I wait for him to tell me to take it off.

"Okay take it off and turn around." I undo the blindfold and in front of me is Kai sitting in the boot of his car, the floor covered by a thick black blanket and four pillows, there is a picnic basket as well.

"Kaiser, you are going to make me cry, you are so romantic and I..." Tears start falling from my eyes "...I, baby."

"Come here." He wraps his arms around me and as I cry into his shirt he just holds me.

"This is amazing," I say as I wipe away my tears.

"I was not sure whether you would like it."

"I love it." I sit on the pillow, I thought the floor was covered with a blanket but there is also a mattress, he really thought this through.

"Okay so first the crackers and cheese, I have to be honest, this was all my idea but I had help executing it from Zale."

"What did he do?"

"He helped me not freak out, things were not going accordingly." Placing the cracker into the dip, I enjoy the taste, I love crackers and dip.

"Why did you do this?"

"Do what?" He hands me a glass of wine before settling into his seat.

"This, today, why did you get me flowers and then plan all of this, you also got a tattoo with my name on it, Kai, I just... What did I do to deserve all of this?"

"Nothing, you deserve the world and more, you know I love you..."

"Yes." I interrupt

"So I thought I should show you that I love you, not just say it." I nod

We enjoy the food he has prepared, loaded sandwiches, the mango and watermelon, we bought, grapes and chocolate-covered strawberries. He also prepared cocktails, they were not as bad as I thought they were going to be.

We played cards and Scrabble, which I won because I am the boss.

"Okay, I have one last surprise, please close your eyes?" I cover my eyes with the palm of my hands, I hear shuffling, what is he up to?

"Can I open them?"

"Yeah." I find him in front of me and his hand is a ring in a black box, a pear-cut white gold diamond ring to be more specific.

"Baby? Kai," Shock runs through my veins as I try to process what is going on.

"We have been together for more than two years, we went through the pits of hell together and apart..." He clears his throat "I am not good with speeches so I will cut down to the chase. Kamohelo Sinothando Molapo, will you marry me?" Tears are running out of my eyes and I can barely get a word out of my sobs so I nod my head "Yes?"

"Yes!" I continue sobbing as he pushes the ring up my finger. "Kai, I never thought, I thought, baby." The ring looks great on my finger, it looks beautiful.

"I love you." He joins our lips, his finger under my chin, his lips felt different, a good different but my face is wet from the tears so I pull away to wipe my face.

"I am a fiancé?" He nods "You are my fiancé now! I can't believe it, I have to call my dad and Sibo, did you tell your mom yet?"

"I told my mom and gran, I also asked for your dad's permission."

"You asked?" He nods before holding my hand

"You are the most important person in my life and I know how much you value your dad and his opinion so I knew I needed to ask. Now, we do need to get Khanyi, he said he has a date."

"A date? He didn't tell me he has a date?"

"I probably shouldn't have told you."

"No, I am glad you did, I think it's good for him to move on."

Three knocks before he opens the door.

"About time, you two are going to make me late."

"Sorry, look at the ring he got me." My dad takes my hand and holds it as he looks at the ring

"Nice, you picked well." He says to Kai.

"You didn't warn me about the proposal?"

"It is a surprise, you know what those are right?"

"Okay, I see you are tired of me so I will take your grandchild and go."

"You need to let me babysit more, everytime I see her she is older."

"Okay, dad."

When we left, my dad said his date was close and he did not want her to see us. He is acting weird about the entire situation.
