"You done it last year"!
"That didn't count, you weren't here to do it"!
Gellert was sitting back, with Ariana on the couch at the opposite side of the room, just sitting back to watch the carnage.

Ariana kept quiet, fidgeting, Gellert was just watching the two brothers squabble childishly about some stupid star for some sort of Christmas tradition with the 'family', but Ariana was excluded entirely, and it was really only them two.

Gellert was trying to keep Ariana to wait, hoping something fun or less banal would happen, but it was literally just Aberfroth and Albus debating with unstructured arguments as to why they think they should do it.

Aberforth was holding the shiny star, far above Albus's reach, making Albus feel very short, which he was hardly, he was average height, but everybody around him was tall, even his fourteen year old sister was 5'7, not much shorter than him.

Albus was on his tip toes trying to take it off Aberforth, who looked like he was having the most fun he'd had in years. Gellert and Ariana were snacking on crisps, they were just regularly salted, not exactly interesting compared to the Christmas civil war of 1889.

They also had a bet on, for who would get their way. Ariana had a bet on Aberforth, for the sweeties in the kitchen, and Gellert bet that none of them would put it on top of the tree.

"That's mad, Gellert".
Gellert looked mischievously at her, "How come, then", she looked at him with an all knowing look, "because they fight like this every single year, for over four hours, and no matter what, it ends up at the top of the tree flawlessly every year".

His face shown that he was ready to engage in competition.
"Statistics"?
"Aberforth put it on the tree eight times, Albus put it on the tree six times, since my birth that is".
She looked a little but more lively now, and there was actually hints of colour on her skin.

"Since it always ends up on the tree, one of them will have had to put it on the tree, Mr. Grindelwald, it's just inevitably".
Gellert looked back, after watching Aberforth stick his tongue out at Albus.
"Maybe, but I am sticking to my bet". Ariana was happy he'd done this, She was much more likely to win, almost certain.

"Is It childish for us to be betting sweets on this"? Ariana asked cautiously, she was aware Gellert was capable of murder, everybody except Aberforth and Albus seemed worried he'd hurt them. To her dismay, Gellert just laughed, "no, no, it's just taking initiative".

Which it wasn't, realistically it was childish, but nobody was going to outright say it was. "I'll go stop them arguing now, they can decide in a more civil way".

Gellert got off the couch, formally walking inbetween the two brothers in an attempt to put their bickering to a hault Gellert was shorter than Aberforth aswell but he jumped and took the star from his grasp nevertheless. He went to the dining table, that had chairs surrounding it and let the star sit in the middle of it.

He told Aberforth to sit down at one of the chairs and pulled out another chair for Albus to sit down, Aberforth suddenly offering to be sick.
"So, from what I have heard, from... inside sources" he paused for a second to let it process through Aberforth's thick skull, before continuing.

"It has came to my attention that this does happen a lot, doesn't it"? He paused again for a brief response. Aberforth nodded his head just after Albus. "So, instead of the childish bickering, I have decided that I will pick up teaching for today, and educate you two fine looking fellows, the art of compromise".

He looked back at them for approval, Aberforth looked disgusted at the word, probably not even understanding what a compromise was, just hating how it sounded when Gellert said it.
