Chapter 33- Shadow Of A Doubt Pt2

That night I managed to get dad to agree with Sweet Pea spending the night at our house, mainly to keep Sweet Pea from doing anything stupid but also for company
"Come to bed" I say opening up the bed sheet for him. He stops pacing to look at me
"What if he goes down for this. He didn't kill anyone. Fangs would never, it's Fangs for suck sake" I sigh sitting up
"I know baby. I know Fangs wouldn't hurt someone he cared about. The killer is obviously the Black Hood, people will learn the truth. Now come on" Pea slowly walks over to the bed and sits down with his face in his hands
"His my best friend Rory"
"I know" I place my head on his shoulder and rub circles on his back in an attempt to comfort him.

Finally it's time for the debate. I'm stood with Sweet Pea and Archie, I'm placing with the rings on Sweet Peas hand out of nerves
"Welcome one and all to tonight's mayoral debate" Alice says as dad and Hermione shake hands "jumping right in. fear and unrest rule the streets. Hermione Lodge, how would you restore safety to the town?"
"Well we're already making strides Alice. My husband and I personally recruited Sheriff Minetta from Centreville after Tom Keller resigned. Not one week on the job, and he's apprehended Midge Klumps murderer"
"That bitch" Sweets gets angry
"You mean he's arrested an innocent boy" I yell out making dad look at me
"Fred. Rebuttal"
"We don't know if he's the killer" I sigh knowing dads on our side, but this makes many people boo him "all I'm saying is let's not call for blood until we've had a trial. What does that say about us? about Riverdale"
"You talk about not calling for blood, Fred. Are you aware of a group called the Dark Circle" Hermione retaliates
"No I'm not"
"Let me enlighten you. The Dark Circle is a dangerous radical group that traffics in terror, violence and street warfare. A group started by your son Archie" dad looks over to us, but more specifically Archie "also your daughter has joined a group, the Southside Serpents who are violent and drug ridden. Now I ask you citizens of Riverdale, how can we trust a man to run a town when he can't keep own house in order?"
"Oh my god. It's the Black Hood" Veronica says. I look to where she's looking, Archie runs over to dad to pull him to the ground as Pea does the same to me as gun shots go off. Dad goes to the station with Archie, Pea and I go back home and lock all the doors.

Pea and I head into my bedroom
"You ok Rory?"
"No" I turn the face Pea "I'm petrified. What if dad got shot again, or Archie, or you or me. I knew it was a bad idea, the whole debate thing"
"Hey" Pea pulls me into him "shhh. Your ok, your dad and brother are ok and I'm ok" Pea strokes my hair in comfort "I'll always be here to protect you, I promise"
"Don't do that" I pull away
"Don't make a promise like that because one day you might get hurt or I might"
"Then how about this. I promise to love you, even if we were to break up I would still love you, because you have changed me in so many ways. I love you right here, right now" I place a hand on Peas cheek and rub my thumb
"I love you, so much" I lean up to Sweet Peas lips and place mine on his.

Before we knew it our clothes were on the floor and we were cuddled up under the covers, Sweet Pea with his arm around me and my head leaning on his chest. Peas phone rang and Jughead told us that we needed to get to the station because Fangs is getting out. So now here we are stood with Toni, Jug, Fangs and FP
"We can't take Fangs out the front we have to take the side entrance" Jughead says to the Minetta
"Crowds out there to so pick your poison Serpent"
"What do we do man?" Pea asks looking scared. I take his hand to try and give him some comfort
"I don't wanna die" Fangs says just as scared
"Hey look at me your not going to die ok" Jug says hold Fangs' face "we stand together so none of us fall. In unity there is strength" Jug looks around us all we form a circle holding on to each other.
"In unity there is strength" we all yell and walk out.

The serpents make a protective circle around Fangs. FP and Jug in the front leading the way, Pea and Toni and I on the side of Fangs, other Serpents around the back of us. I hold on to Peas hand as we make our way through the crowd while some are screaming 'justice for Midge' and others screaming 'free Fangs'. It feels like we're pushing through the crowd longer than should have been. L Suddenly we hear a gun shot making everyone stop. Pea and I check each other over to make sure we're both ok. I look round and see Archie and Reggie on the floor, Reggie is holding a gun
"Guys!" Fangs says. I look over at him as he looks down to his stomach
"Oh my god" I whisper as I watch red liquid coming from his stomach, Fangs starts to collapse, but Jug and Pea manage to catch him. Toni applies pressure to the wound
"Fangs no, no no no man stay with us" Pea cries
"Get help!" Jug yells to no one in particular. A fight breaks out
"Reggie Mantle I'm going to kill you!" I shout looking around not being able to see him in all the chaos.
