Y/N's POV

"I've been hangin' out with da Delancey brothas," I admitted.
"You been what!"

"You said ya weren't gonna judge me."
"That ain't fair when ya drop a bomb like dat!"

"Calm down, Al."
"No, I can't calm down! They's trouble N/N! You's gonna get yerself hurt!"

"I'm not gonna get hurt. I know 'em, they ain't gonna hurt me."
"You don't know what ya talkin' about. What do ya mean they ain-"

He then stared at me for a bit before his expression changed into one of disbelief.
"You like one of 'em, don't ya?"
"I-"
My inability to answer him was an answer in itself.

"Unbelievable! Ya actually-" Albert stopped himself and reflected.

He sighed, "I know ya got standards. Ya ain't the type ta date jus' any sleazeball. So I know there's gotta be a reason ya like 'im."

I was shocked by his words.
He looked at me expectantly, "Well on wit' it."

"I met 'em in the refuge. They helped me a bunch, made the whole thing more bearable. They ain't bad like everyone says, they's forced into their work. They're just protecting each other. They were da ones who got me outta the refuge, took quite a few hits for it too. I guess I just fell for Morris in the time I spent wit' him. 'm sorry for not sayin' nothin' I jus' wasn't sure if it was something ya need ta hear right now."

He was silent for a few seconds and I had no idea what he would say.

"Y/N, ya know mom and dad used ta always say dat you's a great judge of character. It's true 'nd I've always loved that 'bout you. You got a good heart, I trust ya."

He wrapped me tightly in a hug.
"I know we was thrown in da deep end, N/N. We's in this togetha. You don't gotta feel like ya need ta hide somethin' like this from me. I love you, Y/N."
"I love ya too, Al."

When we pulled away from the hug, he started laughing a bit.
"Also, ya gotta properly introduce me ta this boyfriend of yours," he said, a teasing grin growing on his face.
"He ain't my boyfriend," I replied rolling my eyes.

"Yet," he smugly stated, "but soon you'll be Y/N Delancey."
My face flushed when he said that. "Shuddup, Al."

"Nah, now that ya admitted ta likin' someone, I ain't ever gonna stop."
I rolled my eyes again.

"If ya wanna tease someone it's Race, he's like head over heels for tha Delanceys' sister, Katie."
"Noted," he laughed.

It was quite late so we figured that we should get some rest.

"G'night, future Delancey," he teased some more.
"Ugh, g'night weirdo."

Though I was stressed at first, to have told my brother everything felt like a weight lifted off my shoulders. Like that constant strain was gone. I fell into peaceful, dreamless sleep.

I woke up the next morning earlier than almost everyone.

A couple of people were waking up but most were asleep so I used this to go to the bathroom and get a head start on getting ready for the day.

When I was done, I noticed my brother and Race sitting together. Upon walking closer to them, I heard their conversation.

"So whas this I hear about a girl named Katie Delancey?"
Race looked a bit taken aback, "I, uh- what?"

I interjected, "Al knows about the Delanceys now."
"Okay but enough wit' dis whole Katie and I thing, 'specially when you 'nd Morris ain't confessin' ta each other."
