CHAPTER 19

"KINAKABAHAN AKO." She uttered while letting out a sighed every second to calm her nerves.

How many times did she said those words to Duke? She lost count. Kanina pa pinagpapawisan ang kamay niya sa kaba dahil mayamaya lang ay makakaharap na niya ang magulang nito. She's freaking nervous and her heart were beating so loud. Kahit papaano, kumakalma siya sa kaalamang makikita niya mamaya si Ashton. He miss the little guy and she wanted to hug him so bad. Gusto na niya ulit itong makasama sa pagtulog. Like they usually do.

"Relax." Duke chuckled while watching her pacing back and forth. "my parents won't eat you. You should be calm."

"But how?!" She frustratedly said. Kung hindi lang nakaayos ang buhok niya, kanina pa siguro niya nasabunutan ang sarili. "kahit gustuhin ko, kinakabahan talaga ako. Just let me be. I'm trying to calm my self."

"Sasha, I told you that you don't need to force yourself. You could've just back out."

"I can but I won't." She stared at him. "if your parents wanted to meet me, then I'll gladly accept it. It's kinda rude to decline their invitation. Mga magulang mo 'yon."

"Yeah, I perfectly know that. Pero ikaw ang inalalala ko. Baka maihi ka na diyan sa sobrang kaba."

She look daggers at him and she saw him grimaced. Napabuntong hininga siya at naglakad palapit dito kapagkuwan ay umupo sa tabi nito. Kanina pa sila nandito sa apartment at handa na sanang umalis pero masyado siyang kinakabahan kaya nanatili muna sila dito. May oras pa naman para makarating sila sa bahay ng parents nito.

Agad dumantay ang braso nito sa kanyang balikat at marahang hinaplos ang kanyang ulo.

"Kinakabahan ako, 'yon ang totoo. It is my first time meeting someone's parents that I barely know. At sa boss ko pa." She chuckled. "siyempre sinong hindi kakabahan. That's a normal reaction for someone like me."

"But I'll assure you that you'll be good. Mababait naman ang parents ko. Well, sometimes."

Naningkit ang tingin niya dito at bahagya itong natawa bago bigyan ng halik ang kanyang labi na ikinagulat niya.

"You will be good if you stay beside me. Hindi kita pababayaan doon." Bahagya itong lumayo pero hindi iyon sapat para pigilan ang malakas na tibok ng kanyang puso. "let's go? I'm sure Ashton wanted to see you right now."

While looking at his blue orbs, she felt calm. Ang masuyo nitong tingin na binibigay sa kanya ay siyang nagpapakalma sa kalamnan niya. After a while, she found herself nodding at him. He smiled from ear to ear while softly caressing her hair.

"That's good. Don't be scared. I'm just here Sasha."

His voice were soothing that she found herself leaning on him. Nanatili sila sa gano'ng posisyon ng ilang sandali bago sila umalis sa apartment. While heading towards his parents's house, her nervousness were bearable. She can handle it well and maybe because Duke were holding her hand too. Err, their hands were intertwined to be exact.

"Malayo ba?" Aniya mayamaya nang tumigil ang kotse dahil red light.

"Not really. A few blocks away. Nasa subdivision ang bahay nina Mom pero hindi naman masyadong malayo."

"Hindi ba nila gustong tumira dito? They only want to be here in holidays or vacations?"

"I'm not sure because my parents live here when I was born. Pinanganak at lumaki ako dito kaya alam kong ilang taon din silang nakatira dito. They just leave the Philippines to live in New York after I take over the business and got divorced with my ex-wife."
