A/N regarding the last chapter I know that "La Mafia" is very simple to understand, I wrote that on purpose😭😭😭

Now since I'm smart I obviously knew what the Old Man said. Literally. Even if I didn't know Italian, you could tell he said something involving the Mafia.

So I'm gonna play my cards right.

"Mafia?" I say trying my best to sound confused.

Everyones face visibly pales.

There was a long period of silence.

"We have a Bar called 'La Mafia' " Vincent says quickly.

"Why would you guys name it there?" I ask continuing to act oblivious.

"Uh, it attracts people since the name is interesting" Leo chimes in.

The rest of the family just stood there spectating.

🧍🏽‍♀️

"Oh" I say.

I bite my tongue to keep myself from laughing. Its a somewhat smart cover up. I think.

"Non conosce la mafia?" Grandpa asks.
(Translation: She doesn't know about
the Mafia?)

Dad and Vincent both shake their heads no.

"Conosce anche l'italiano?" Gramps asks Dad, but keeps his gaze on me.
(Translation: Does she even know Italian?)

I folded.

I accidentally let a small smile onto my lips. I don't think Gramps caught it though.

"Nessun padre" Dad says.
(Translation: No Father)

"Hmm" Grandpa says still looking at me.

"So..when are yall gonna teach me Italian?" I say. I wanna see them get all flustered.

"Never" Everyone says instantly.

"Well damn" I say throwing my hands in the air.

"Valentina, come with me" Grandpa says walking towards the front door.

"Sir yes sir" I say trailing behind him like a lost puppy.

"Where are you guys going?" Dad questions.

"Mind your business boy, do not follow us" Grandpa says.

"BUAHAHAHAHAH, He told you Dad" I say laughing.

Me and Gramps then step outside.

"So what's up-"

"You know don't you" Grandpa says cutting me off.

Sh*t

Wait, we can play this off.

"Know what?" I way playing dumb.

"Non comportarti stupida Valentina, lo so che lo sai" Grandpa says smiling at me.
(Translation: Don't act dumb Valentina, I know that you know)

Welp.

"La sua causa ho sorriso, vero?" I say in Italian
(Translation: Its cause I smiled, isn't it?)

"Yep, I caught it" Grandpa says smiling.

"And here I thought that I was smooth with it. Damnit" I say.

"So, if you know why don't you tell the others?" Grandpa questions.

"I'm waiting to see if they'd come and tell me. For now the ball's in my court, just waiting to see if they'll come collect it" I shrug.
