Rain pattered against the window as Scott and Nellie drove through the town, heading towards the hospital. Both teenagers had promised to bring Melissa dinner for another late-night shift that she had picked up to care for them and Isaac. Since the night that everything changed for the pack most of them had been inseparable, if not as a pack, then to at least one person within it, for Nellie and Scott, it was each other, occasionally including Isaac when he wasn't hanging out with Boyd or Cora who he'd become closer than ever to. It was safe to say the entire pack was scared to leave any of the more supernaturally inclined alone for too long, scared that what happened that night could happen again, and that maybe this time, they wouldn't be so lucky.

Things had changed since that night. More than just growing nerves of teenagers scared that they'd be part of a sacrifice ritual. More than longing looks that Nellie and Scott kept finding themselves sending to one another, both continuing to wonder what laid behind the eyes of the other after what they had seen, both still keeping that to themselves. Even though Nellie was sure Allison had seen it to the two had kept what they thought they knew quiet, it seemed as though it was for the best. Scott didn't need any more worry. It was when they were sat on the bus, preparing to leave Fairvale that the series of changes had truly begun, beginning with Ethan sitting beside Scott, a mysterious action within itself. Nellie had only been out of the seat a few seconds to move a row behind, taking the empty space behind Stiles who'd been nagging her from the moment she opened her eyes, desperate to find out what else she was capable of.

His words had been concise. There was no interpretation needed. His information had been an exchange for "Scott" saving his life last night, though the wolf had nothing to do with it, as Stiles pointed out, Ethan still granted them with the gift of insight. Insight into the truth, the future.

𝐖𝐞'𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐲 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐤'𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞. For a split second, that had brought relief to the two who'd blamed themselves for his death, both of them looking at each other with a look of awe. But their relief had been ultimately short lives when Ethan continued to tell them what he knew, that part, though useful, they wished he'd kept to himself. They lived in a world where the phrase "𝐀𝐧 𝐞𝐲𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐲𝐞" may as well have been written in the bible. Though they assumed that Derek was alive, it had been confirmed Ennis hadn't made it through the night, an eye. Ennis's death left two options for Derek, ones that Ethan didn't need to speak for Nellie to know, after all, she'd spent plenty of time listening to the conversations of the Alpha pack, she knew the rules that they lived by. His first option, joining the pack, and in turn, killing his beta's. Isaac and Boyd. An option Nellie, nor anyone else was going to let happen. His second option, a simple one, also an unacceptable one in the eyes of the three Ethan was explaining it to; death.

Nobody had spoken to Derek since finding out he was alive, after the relief had died down came the true emotion they all felt towards the Alpha, anger. Anger that he had let them believe he was dead for days. Anger that he couldn't be bothered to even send a small text, call them for a split second to inform them he'd made it through the night. Instead, he almost allowed Scott to kill himself with guilt if it weren't for the handiness of Lydia's sewing kit, Allison's instructions, and Nellie's desperation to keep Scott alive. Forgiving him would take time.
