Bleary-eyed, the blonde woke up with a stretch, looking around the room as she came back to her sense, sitting up on the couch she had fallen asleep on. Noelle hadn't intended on sleeping, just resting her eyes until Camila had gotten off of her fifth business call of the day so the two of them could watch a movie like the woman had promised they would. When she had said that, sunlight was still peeking through the living room curtains, now, it was dark outside, more time had passed than she realized. She could still hear her mother's stern voice coming from the next room, her heels clicking against the tiled floor as she paced the kitchen.

That was how most of their days had been spent since losing her father just over a month ago, waiting for her mother to follow through on yet another empty promise. Cole had already given up on waiting for her, he spent most of his days in his rooms, sat at his desk while he listened to the police radio that his father had given to him for his birthday just before his passing, waiting to hear something that sparked his interest.

For a ten-year-old boy, that didn't take a lot. There had been many nights where he snuck his little sister out of the house to follow newly-appointed Sheriff Stilinski to one of his crime scenes if it were within walking distance, Camila never noticed they were gone, she was too consumed in a phone call to think of checking up on the kids she had neglected for hours on end. The crime scenes were never anything much, a break-in, a noise complaint, robbery. Petty crimes were as much as Beacon Hills experienced. It wasn't exactly a fun town, it was quiet, the odd suspicious death here and there, but nothing spectacular. Until tonight.

When Noelle's vision focused she found her brother kneeling in front of her, dressed all in black a flashlight in one hand, his other had a finger pressed to his lips, warning the girl to be quiet as he signaled for her to follow him. Tonight, they had something much better to follow together, a car accident, a horrific one at that, the car had swerved off of the road, landing on the preserve. A preserve the two were fortunate enough to live on the back of in their new home. As Cole led his little sister out of the living room he kept a lookout, watching as Camila remained shouting at some so-called imbecile down the phone, they had a good hour or two before she remembered she had two children to put to bed.

Once Noelle was appropriately dressed for a cold winter night, the two snuck out of the house, heading to the preserve that sat at the back of their house. Cole kept his hand intertwined with his little sisters as he guided her through the dark with his flashlight, the two of them remained whipsering until they were sure they were far enough from the house. It was usually the kind of adventure they would invite Stiles Stilinski on, but it was too late, too dark for them to run a few blocks to his house. Cole hadn't even told his sister what the two of them were following, what he was about to drag her into, he was worried she might freak out and want to go back home, something like a car accident might have scared her as if the two of them hadn't grown up with their father telling them horror stories before bed.
