the fox and the wolf

Sunlight beamed down on her face, caressing it gently as it shined through the grate separating the basement from the rest of the world. Her eyes flickered open as she looked around the dimly lit room, it was empty, a room filled with only herself and the papers she and Stiles were looking through. The girl could vaguely remember the events that led up to now, how Oliver was the last thing she had seen, a syringe in his hand, Haldol, Eichen's best seller. The rest she'd put together quite quickly- Stiles was gone. In more ways than one.

The girl looked down at her wrists, tied in the restraints of a chair, a strap across her chest too, of course Oliver would put her in the five-point restraint system, he was more familiar with it than a person should be. Maybe she'd managed to break a door handle but this, this was above her. An immense amount of strength was needed for something like this, and right now, she didn't have that strength. All she could do was hope that someone noticed that she wasn't in her room, that they would come searching for her and with the reputation she'd gained during her stay the first place they'd look was in the basement.

Noelle through her head back, looking up at the grate, at the sun shining through it. Those long seventy-two hours were up, when someone found her, she could run free. Granted, her running free meant running straight into another form of trouble- the reign of the Nogitsune that chose her best friend as it's face, but still, she would be out of Eichen. Right now, that was more than a person could wish for. She would never look back at this place.

At the sound of a door creaking open Noelle shot up, looking straight at the door, unsure who'd be standing there, she certainly knew a handful of people that she didn't want it to be, the main one being Brunski. With him there, she knew that her seventy-two hours might just be extended with no objection from the woman who put her in this place.

But for the first time in months, luck was on her side. Malia crept into the basement, she looked around wearily for her best friend, careful not to talk, to not get caught in here and get her own stay extended too. Noelle began struggling in her restraints as she called for the coyote, she too keeping her voice as hushed as possible, but just about loud enough for Malia to hear her shout.

The coyote rushed over to her with a bright smile on her face, giddy with excitement as she put either of her hands on the arms of Noelle's chair. "You know what today is?" Malia beamed with excitement, jumping up and down. "It's the day. We can finally get out of here."

"Yeah... I'm gonna need some help with that, Lia." Noelle mumbled as she wiggled inside of her restraints again. Malia looked down at the straps all over her best friend tying her down.

Malia nodded, tugging on the restraints, ripping them straight from her wrists and chest. As soon as the girl was free Noelle jumped up, shaking herself off with a sigh of relief. Now they could go. Both girls snuck their way out of the basement, working their way slowly through the halls back to the room they'd shared, hoping that out of all the orderlies they'd have Steve open their door. Steve was their favourite orderly, simply because he wasn't the sharpest crayon in the box, they could easily convince him that they'd been in their room all night, that Malia hadn't even been in the closed unit, they could walk free without another word.
