*WAS CRUEL SUMMER*
"The pain of it slashed through my body in nauseating waves before settling heavily in the pit of my belly. I tried to hold it together, to hold it down, but I couldn't."

Noelle and Melissa stood in the doorway of Scott's bedroom, talking in a hushed whisper, all too conscious of the boy lying on Scott's bed, neither sure whether it was who they hoped it was or a fox playing another trick, forming another distraction like he had with the rest of the pack while sitting on the McCall couch he had managed to turn Cole, Isaac and the twins against Allison and Kira, keeping them far from the house, making sure that he could escape with Lydia. The woman held a penlight tightly in her hand, reluctant to hand it over to Noelle, she knew Stiles needed to have a medical exam, preferably from her, but she didn't have the guts to step that close to him, nobody but Noelle did. Surprising considering what she'd gone through with him, what Void had taken from her the last time she touched him. Melissa asked whether the girl knew what to do, it was her first time doing something like this, though the blonde girl nodded with confidence, she made sure to give her a run-through just in case. Meanwhile, Noelle kept her eyes on the boy, too scared to turn away for even a split second, she couldn't risk him disappearing like Lydia.
Melissa placed the penlight in the girl's hand, holding the hand in hers as she told the girl to look at her, despite wanting to keep an eye on Stiles, the blonde turned her head to face Melissa who gave her one last chance to back out of this, telling her that if she couldn't do it she would build up the courage to do it herself. Noelle objected, she could do it. She was fine.
As she perched herself beside Stiles the woman continued to linger by the door, keeping a close eyes on them as Noelle flicked the penlight on, Stiles looked at her with a nod, giving her the go-ahead to start examining him. She shone the light over his eyes, back and forth as the boy took a set of shaky breaths, just as nervous about the results as they were. With that step done, Noelle looked back at Melissa with a nod, so far so good. She pulled Melissa's pocket watch from inside of her jacket, ready to test his pulse, she looked at his wrist, his hands, reminded of that night at the clinic, those hands had taken that from her.
He could see the hesitance as she slowly reached for them, her own hand shaking, scared that it would happen again. He held up his wrist for her, making it a little easier for the girl as they both shared a guilty expression. She felt guilty for being so scared to touch her own best friend, to sit so close to him, and he felt guilty that she had to even feel that way because of what he'd done, maybe he hadn't had control over it, but he remembered it. Once she was done, she placed the boy's hand back down, looking at Melissa once again, another nod, the woman dared to step an inch or two closer, standing at the bottom of the bed, declaring him a clean bill of health, he was a real person. But the question still remained- was he really him?
As Scott walked into the room Stiles sat up, all heads turning to the wolf, he nodded, knowing at least one of them was going to ask the question- she was here. The woman they'd been waiting for, the only person who could really determine which version of himself he was. He was eager to get it over and done with, but that couldn't be said for the rest of them, two who knew the exact feeling it would leave him with if it was successful. Even Melissa who didn't know didn't feel very comfortable with the idea, she and the two teenagers all looked at one another uneasily, he saw it, telling them they had to do this, he needed to know.
