Chapter 11 | Lessons and marionettes🍈

Tengen-sama starts with easy movements not really using his blades. It's more about the technique of your body while using two weapons.
To your surprise he doesn't rush but has broken moves. Like this it's easier for you to copy it and you have a better view on the different muscles Tengen-sama shows with the changing postures.
Of course you don't focus on his body.

"Did you see everything?" Tengen-sama asks after he finishes his row of figures.

Wait! Stop that!

"Yes."

He pulls up one eyebrow.
"Try to copy it then, I will help you."

You grab your sticks and stand next to Tengen-sama. Your back is facing his chest. In more or less synchrony the two of you perform the figures. You try to ignore how near you are to Tengen-sama.

Tengen-sama's movement is cleaner than yours and is steps are larger.
But overall you get the idea. It's not that different from your fighting style.

After half an hour, Tengen-sama wants you to do it on your own. He sits on a rock, his legs and arms crossed. You don't like to get watched by him but in order to improve you need critisism.
How annoying.

Without looking at him you again begin with the poses and try to remember every one of them.
"Your shoulders are too loose." Tengen-sama shouts.
You nod and do the figure again.
"Still. Push them more to the back."
You do it again, looking at Tengen-sama afterwards with a doubtful look.
He sighs and shakes his head.
"I'll show you."
He stands up and walks to you. Even his walk shows that he his stronger than an average man.
"Do them like this." he says. His hands touch your shoulder from behind and pull them a bit back. The sensation you feel makes your heart beat faster.
He steps back and looks at you.
"Understood?"

"Yes, Tengen-sama."

A smile appears on his face.
"Keep going."

You start with the poses and this time Tengen-sama seems satisfied. Even though he looks at you critically he doesn't complain about anything which is a success with a man like him.

"You learn very quickly. I noticed that a couple of times." he comments as you start with the poses for the 12th time.

Should I say thank you now? you think.

You say nothing.

Tengen-sama goes back to the rock and sits down. It's calming and gives you anxiety at the same time, seeing him this relaxed.

He stays with you until the sun sets. You are confused about that. Didn't he say he ain't got time for you?
But there he sits patiently waiting and watching.

"I'll train with you tomorrow again." he says in the dusk.

You raise your eyebrows in disbelief.
Where's Tengen-sama and what did this man do to him?

He ignores it and waits for you to accept your faith.

"Okay. Thank you."

"No problem."
For the first time he doesn't smirk like an idiot when saying something like that.
You don't know what you expect but it wasn't being left alone after talking about the next lesson. In one second Tengen-sama disappeared and now you stand there, alone in the forests while it's getting dark.

"Thank you for your politeness." you say loudly, talking to yourself.
You hope he hears it.
