Chapter 17 | Party at the beach

As you wake up you don't recognize where you are.
It's a big room with several beds in it. In every one of them lays a person around your age. Nurses run up and down the hallway their shoes clacking on the floor. You slowly move your head but it doesn't hurt. You move your fingers and your arms and feel pressure on it.
They're heavy as you lift them up to look at the bandages.

Not again.

A nurse notices you and says something to another one before she walks to you a friendly smile on her face.
"Our winner" she greets "how do you feel?"

You overhear the praising and answer: "Could be better could be worse."

The nurse laughs but you can't tell if it's faked or not.
"Does your head hurt?" she wants to know.

"Not yet."

"What about your legs?"

You move them and feel the bruises.
"Not really."

"Okay great. Were you the one using the poison?" she switches the topic her smile fading a bit.

"Yes."

"Your partner said something about an antidote. Sadly we don't have one for this kind of venom."

Kanao...how is she?

"It's in my haori. A small green vessel with brown liquid inside."

You point to your haori next to you. The nurse nods and starts searching for it. When she finds it she looks at you with a questioning look and you nod.
"Thank you!" she says smiling brightly.

"Five drops are enough" you call while she walks away.

Sighing you relax again and stare at the wooden ceiling.
What time is it?
Where's Tengen-sama?
What will happen now?

Clueless you lay there and wait for anyone to tell you what to do.
You're still exhausted and tired so you fall asleep several times but never for more than ten minutes. The bare existence of so many people around you makes you vigilant. It's a habit of yours. You don't trust people.

As you are able to open your eyes again for a bit longer it's because of someone yelling. Annoyed you sit up and look at the boar dude who discusses very loud with Oyakata-sama!

Why is he here?
You have to admit that you missed him.

You watch the discussion going on without actually listening to the topic. Soon Oyakata-sama moves his head towards you and a gentle smile faces you.

Whenever Oyakata-sama is around the atmosphere is calm and peaceful. Maybe that's the reason why you enjoy his company so much.
He ends the discussion with the boar dude who seems to get angrier by it. Luckily the chess pattern haori boy holds him back.

"Y/n I'm happy to see you" Oyakata-sama greets with his soft voice.

"I can only give that back. We haven't seen in a while."

"Congratulations on winning the competition."

You smile and nod.

Oyakata-sama looks at you for a few seconds as if he would calculate whether he should be happy or sad.
"If you feel good again I'd like to talk to you."

You knew that something would come.

"We can talk now if you want" you propose.

"I'd rather talk alone."

You nod and Oyakata-sama gives you a grateful smile before he leaves. Before he once again talks with the boar dude.
Your eyes wander around the room. Many patients left. Only three of them are left. Chess pattern boy, boar head and the yellow boy. They lay next to each other talking loudly. Looks like they're friends.
