Chapter 33 | Kimonos

The last hours you are separated from Tengen-sama. You're in your room sorting your outfit and accessories. At the same time you start making couverts with money that you will give Tori to fly to Yoshiwara. The town shall know that you're still paying back.

The raven waits in your window until you arranged the coverts so they don't fall.
"Okay, bring this to Aoki-san. You know where her balcony is, right?"

"I kNoW wHeRe AoKi-SaN's BaLcOnY iS!" Tori croaks.

Except for just nodding or saying 'yes' she always trys to speak as much as possible. As a raven it's easier for her to learn the human language than for the crows but it still sounds inhuman. As Tori in fact isn't a Kasugai crow she developed speaking later and by her own.

"Very good. I'm counting on you, have a good flight" you respond and pet the raven's back.
Her feather shimmer blue on the sunlight.

"ByE bYe!" Tori says and jumps from your window.

With a proud smile you again face your outfit. You're wondering why you have to wear another outfit than your uniform as it is a festival of the demon slayer corps. Maybe they want to feel like normal people that just party? You can understand that of course and you're excited to see everyone in 'casual clothing'. Your biggest fear is that you're absolutely overdressed but on the other hand you're the winner of the hashira-students-competition. They should have at least a bit respect for you.

After showering and styling your hair you put on your outfit and walk in front of your mirror.

You have to admit that you feel sexy in this. Not only does it show skin but cover it at the same time but it also kinda represents your breathing style. It's been long since you wore a kimono but it's perfect for the weather and ambient.
With your katanas showing behind your back you look so badass that you would believe yourself that you're the villain.

Satisfied and excited you walk up and down your room, waiting.
In this second you realise that you don't know where you're going to. Hopefully it's not far away otherwise your feet would hurt before you even got to the festival.

Will Tanjirou, Inosuke and the crybaby be there?

You were hoping to meet Tanjirou again so you could ask him how he is allowed to carry a demon in his box all the time.

A knock on the door interrupts your thoughts.

"Yes?"

A maid enters the room and bows.
"Master Tengen and his friend are waiting for you in the front yard" she says timidly.

You nod and let her guide you even though you know where to go.
The entrance doors are opened and as you pass through them you can see Tengen-sama and Kyōjurō-san chatting.
They look....good.

They stop talking as they notice you.
Both start looking up and down your outfit and Tengen-sama grins. Kyōjurō-san sighs and winks at your master.

You walk to them and say: "You're looking good. Like civilized people."

"I can only give that back" Kyōjurō-san responds.

"Indeed. You didn't disappoint me" Tengen-sama comments.

"Thank you" you answer them and go next to Tengen-sama who gently strokes over your back and ass.
As inconspicuous as possible you slap his hand.
He responds with a smile.

The three of you start your hike, Tengen on your right and next to him Kyōjurō-san, and you  chat with the two men. The conversation is funny and relaxing. You never would have thought to be this comfortable with two hashiras.

"Where is the festival by the way?" you ask as you walk on a normal sidewalk.

Kyōjurō-san raises his eyebrows.
"Don't tell me you've never been there before? How long are you a part of the demon slayer corps?" he asks shocked.

"Yeah I was confused too" Tengen-sama adds.

You roll your eyes.
"Oh my gosh guys, it's not a big deal. I've never been invited to it that's all."

Kyōjurō-san crosses his arms.
"Everyone gets an invitation from their Kasugai crow."

"I don't have one. Maybe that the reason why. Tori doesn't spend her free time at Oyakata-sama's place like the Kasugai crows if I don't tell her to" you defend yourself.

Now Tengen-sama seems confused.
"But how can she inform you about the missions then?"

You smirk.
"Only Tori knows the answer to that."

Kyōjurō-san shakes his head as if he was disappointed to not get an answer but smiles.

"But for real. How long have you been part of the demon slayer corps? If I had to estimate your strength and experience it's a riddle to me why you're not a Kinoe or even hashira. Your breathing style is unique. That normally would be enough to become a hashira" Kyōjurō-san continues.

You lower your eyelids. Tengen-sama immediately gets closer to you and his pinkie strokes over your hand.

"Officially I've been part of the demon slayer corps since the age of 13 and I guess Oyakata-sama has his reasons to not make me a hashira. Also, did you forget about my punishment? I had the rank of a hinoe but had to restart as a kanoto so I couldn't get in contact with very strong opponents and prove that I am worthy to become a hashira" you explain.

"Sounds like that man is trying to hold you back" Kyōjurō-san comments and gets lost in his thoughts.

"What about the 'officially'?" Tengen-sama wants to know.

You're okay with it. You trust them. Especially Tengen-sama.

"I lived at Oyakata-sama's place since the age of 9. I already told you about what happened in Yoshiwara. I had nowhere to go and as you said it was kinda your 'fault' that the demon got to Yoshiwara. That's why Oyakata-sama offered me to stay at his place and I of course didn't do nothing. I started training back then and I also started killing weak demons soon after. But Oyakata-sama didn't want a ten year old to be officially a part of the demon slayer corps because he felt guilty" you explain.

Kyōjurō-san and Tengen-sama stare at you with wide eyes.
"You're a beast. I can't find any reason why you're not a hashira yet", Kyōjurō-san says.

You laugh.
"Well thank you."

You're grateful that he doesn't comment on the other things you said.

Tengen-sama looks at you with a worried expression but loses it seconds later.
"To answer your question: We're going to one of Oyakata-sama's rented houses where he sometimes spends the weekends in."

"Oh okay. Is it far away?" you ask.

You turn right and look at a forest. Damped laughter and music can be heard.

Kyōjurō-san grins.
"No, we're close."
