Sorry for my delay and the way I've been writing. I was not really getting the writer vibe. A friend advised me to read. That writer write more when they read more. It truly helped. I'm back. I shared it with hope that it will help you too.

              DANIEL'S POV

That feeling, that peace and that joy you find when you finally shut your eyes. Not to death but to sleep. A quick rest with faith to resume later to what has been left undone. That rest, as though you picked a remote and placed paused. However, I'm pulled out of that rest when the bright fluorescent lights in my room turns on. It doesn't stop there. I hear footsteps heading to the window at the side of my bed. No one needs to tell me. I knew what would be next. My curtains slides open with clatters and then, the blinking rays of the yellow sun pierces through my eyelid. My eyes were shut but I could still feel the presence of the sun. It showers me with its ray. A wakeup call.

I'm still on my bed, too tired to open my eyes and too weak to rise. My room is invaded by the slamming of my wooden drawers. It continues for awhile before going to my wardrobe. At that instance, I could tell the culprit and my eyes snap open.

"Simon!" I yell.

He flinches, glances at me and roll his eyes. "Chill! I just need a pair of black socks."

"You always need something. Leave my room jor"

"Mtchew! Head boy that is still sleeping when day has break," he mumbles as he digs his hands down my neatly folded clothes.

"Shit," I exclaim. "What's the time?"

"Mom and dad said we shouldn't be using such words"

"I know. But what does your time say? You are wearing a wristwatch. Please check."

"What happened to your wall clock?"

"The battery needs to be changed," I reply and finally rise, not out of the bed. Too weak to stand up. I rest my back on the headboard. My brother begins to pack my clothes out and drops them on the floor. "Simon! What happened to your own socks? Do you think those clothes are easy to fold?"

"Clean freak," he chuckles as he rummages in my drawer for the socks.  "Ah ha! There, you are. Neat and ready for me"

"Correction," I hiss out. "Ready for me. What says your time?"

"Three minutes after seven. Better fly to the bathroom oo," he says and plunges his butt onto my bed. He forces the pair of socks to his feet and groans, "I don't know why mom allows you to wake up late".

I have a sigh. "She only does that when she knows I slept too late".

"Hmmm...and what time did you sleep late night?"

"3:30" my shoulder slouches as I rub my forehead. "I was reading for the science quiz".

"Einstein's second! Such a nerd you are," my brother seizes the moment to tease me and his laughter floats amidst us. It echoes before dropping into silence. "It's cool though. I wish I had your brain".

"I'm pretty sure yours is bigger. You aren't just reading"

His smile grows puckish. "School books are boring. I like encyclopedia and picture books more. I like fun facts and history about wars".

I shake my head. "That's why I say you are intelligent. It's just that you aren't reading your books".

"You have...," he looks at his wristwatch. "Twenty minutes to prepare for school."

I hop out of the bed immediately, my leg bends as I'm about to fall but I regain my footing. Simon snickers and comments, "No break your legs oo".

I eye him and he smirks. "Sha... I'm borrowing your socks. Try to find them in my pile of dirty clothes later"
