SAMANTHA's POV
Heyy, welcome to a new chapter💃🏽! P.S: my Instagram handle is @ authormabelz_art. I post my spoken word poetry there. You can also check it out.
"I'm a nasty person," I say for what feels like the hundredth time today. I bow my head as I walk out the school gate. I didn't expect Daniel to confront me.
I replay his words that were said thirty minutes ago. "But do I like him?" I shrug my bag onto my shoulder and stroll towards my driver. He opens the car door, and I slide in.
"How was your day?" he asks.
"I'm a nasty person," I respond.
He chuckles and shakes his head, saying, "I don't agree!"
"Remember when you took me to a pharmacy sometime back? I wanted to get a drug to stop someone from winning a contest," I sigh.
"When the young pharmacist gave it to me, another doctor took it from my hand, saying I needed a doctor's prescription."
"I remember that day," he says, diving his hands into his pockets. He's dressed casually in a pair of jeans and a T-shirt.
"You came into the car ranting."
"Yeah..." I roll my eyes. "I still got some drugs from my mom's first aid kit and was able to make the person nauseous. I didn't want him to die or anything. That's why I was careful."
He scratches his head, raising an eyebrow. "'You're saying you poisoned someone?' he asks, incredulous.
"Shush!" I place my index finger on my lips. By now, Mr. Seun knows many of my secrets. I have a bad habit of disclosing things that haunt me, especially when I need advice.
His grip on the door handle tightens, and he sighs, "Sam, why would you hurt someone like that? How important is a contest that you'd make someone nauseous?"
"I promise you, I only put a little in his Coke. Just a little. He got better afterwards... nothing severe. I promise," I ramble, clasping my hands together.
"And does this person know? Have you apologized?"
I suck in a deep breath and lower my head. "That's where the problem is. Mr. Seun, I am a nasty person. I also hurt his feelings."
"He? A boy?"
"Yes!"
He falls silent. I scan his expression; the look of disappointment is carved on his features.
"You can start by confessing and apologizing."
I roll my eyes and scoff. "I want to avoid that."
"But that's the right thing to do. Think about it, please," he says in a tone of finality and shuts the door.
"Sam, your actions will determine what you become. When you make a mistake, own it and correct it. That's what I believe."
I nod, and he proceeds to the driver's seat. Mr. Seun is the only adult who has time to spare to hear me rant. My mom is unconcerned, and my dad is always busy. It hurts to feel alone despite being surrounded by people.
