Chapter 03 - The Entrance Test [Part 2]

                                                Thomas's POV

When we exited the library, we were then transported from a different place when a flash happened.

I look around and noticed a big round building in front of us, it's like a dome.

"Wow, that's a one big rounded dome." Ray said in amazement, "Uhuh, I guess we will be doing our final test inside of that dome." I said.

"I'm having a feeling this include in fighting on something." Ian said who was standing from my left side, I nodded "Well, I am ready for whatever this final test will be."

Few minutes had past, students then started appearing one by one and as far I counted, there were only 50 students left after the previous test.

I then saw the grey wolf that I met back in the cave, the one who almost got attacked by a ghoul, I'm glad the guy was able to pass the second test.

Another hologram then appeared at the front of the dome, as Miss Coraline appears in the hologram.

"Hello! Welcome! I see that there's only 50 of you left, well congrats! no one will be removed in the final test, since we will only scale your power and decide which rank you will be set on. Sadly, Professor William won't be accompanying since he had something important to do, Now then! Let us begin the final test!" She said as everyone start to cheer loudly.

"I can't believe it! It going to happen! I've been waiting for this moment in my whole life!" A big and quite muscular shark shouted from my left, "Yeah same! I'm getting so hype right now!" A human beside him said.

Ian then elbowed my side as I look towards the tall wolf from my side, "Good luck out there wolf." He said as he smiled, "You too." I replied back.

"Let me explain on how this entrance test works, if your name is called, you go inside the dome and that you will fight a holographic beast, the hologram is rather special, the injuries you will receive from them will probably may look real, but don't worry its not. The beast you will face is depend on how much power level you have, you could be either fighting a low, mid, or high ranking beast, it will be hard, trust me, I've experienced it myself back when I first enrolled here." She giggle rather uncomfortably.

'Is this the bad feeling I felt back in the airport' I mumbled to myself.

"Though you are allowed to form a team or just straight up solo, the higher ups will record and rate your performance in battle, if you failed to defeat the beast you were facing, you will be immediately put to the lower rankings, so don't let your overconfident get a hold of you, if you wish to be on the higher ranks. Well that is all, I will give all of you 20 minutes, before we start, you could either start forming a team or just discuss your plan, best of luck to all of you future adventurers!" After that she then head back inside the building.

What a nice lady, giving us 30 minutes to discuss stuff.

"Thomas! Ian! wanna form a team together? with some guys I made friends back in the apartment??" The panther from my left asked rather excitedly.

Hmm... Well forming a team would be nice, I'm only good at combat currently, since I still don't know how to use my gift properly, so why not.

I look back towards Ian again as he nodded and smiled.

I then look back at Ray and responded, "Sure, we would love to form a team with you." The panther gleamed from excitement.

Jesus... is it just me or that Ray's face starting to glow brighter whenever he smiles.

'Its. So. Bright.'

"Hey guys! I want you to meet Thomas and Ian, they will be joining us!" Ray says towards his new friends, they look towards our direction, inspecting me as if I was a newly found creature.

Wow, It's been a long time since I lasted someone made me feel that I'm not from this world.

The lion then looked towards Ray and spoke, "I don't know Ray, he looks kinda weak." The lion glance to my side as his eyes widen in surprise.

"Holy shit! Aren't you Ian Ritzbert? The Ian Ritzbert?!" The lion shouted in excitement, "Oh, an another fan I see." Ian replied back as the lion got excited more, the two of them start to talk about something, I'm sure I could literally see stars inside of his pupil.

So Ian have gotten probably from all this year huh, not that I don't know, I sometimes check on his page from time to time, but I stop like 5 years ago.

"Darius! don't just ignore him! you know, Thomas might actually be helpful when it's our turn." Ray stated, I look at the panther who was trying his best to convince this lion to join me in the group.

I appreciate Ray is trying his best to convince this guy and all, but he shouldn't just state things out of nowhere, he barely knows me, like literally I just met this guy a few hours ago, does it count on when he bullied me back then? I guess?

"Yes, Ray is right, he might be a good addition Darius and also he was the guy I was talking you about, the guy who helped me out in that cave." Someone said from our right, It was him, the grey wolf whom I helped in that cave.

"Hey! it's nice to see you again!" The grey wolf said to me as he smiled, I smiled back, "I'm really glad you made it to the final test." He chuckled.

"Well, I do have to thank you for that." He said to which I nodded, "My name's Aiden by the way!"

"I'm Thomason." I replied with a smile.

The lion, Darius. Look at me for a while before he looks back to his friend and Ray with a sigh, "If you think he is, alright then, I'll allow him to join."

"YES! Thank you!! I'm sure he won't disappoint you!" Ray said with a smile as he put his arm around my neck pulling me close to him.

I chuckled, "I'll try my best." Darius only nodded, Ian then elbowed my left arm, "Ian, if you keep doing that, you will seriously gonna break my arm." I said to him as he chuckled slightly.

"My bad, but I'm really proud of you my wolf." He said, "Well, I have to help him and plus he found the card first, I don't wanna be unfair after all." I replied back as a smile then appear on his face again.

My wolf... That again, I wonder what he meant by that, but instead of me thinking on it, I just shrug it off like I did last time.

"Alright, gather around, we only have like around 15 minutes to discuss about what you guys can do, there's only four of us, so I'll start first." Darius said as he raises his both arm, he then clenched his fist as metal started to appear on both of his fist to his arms, turning to a gauntlet.

"As you all can see, I'm an artifact user, this gauntlet basically does what it do, hits very hard, but this is not just a normal gauntlet, whenever I hit someone or something, It automatically stores any kind of pressure to which I can turn it to any kind of high air pressure, can be either warm or cold. I'm also able to create shock wave if the tank is full, I can use it to create a big shock wave or hit someone with it to fling them from afar." Darius explained as he deactivate his gauntlet.

Me and Ray stare at him from amazement, I couldn't really believe that there's a kind of design like that, it's my first time knowing about it.

"Wow, that's a very nice design for a gauntlet, It would make defense and offense even more greater than it was before, why did I just knew about this?!" I said excitedly.

"Yeah! that's one hell of an awesome design!" Ian added, while Aiden and Ray only stared quite clueless.

Yes, I'm quite of a nerd when it comes Gift and Artifacts, I mean, what's not to like about it?!

Darius then look towards me with a slight surprised expression, "This is the first time someone ever talked excitedly about my gauntlet." He said as he smiled.

"Well, me and my dad actually worked on this for months, so it's kinda not revealed to the public yet, so I'm probably the first one to use it." Darius said as he stare towards the artifact he had.

"I'm absolutely sure it will look good in action! I can't wait to see it for myself!" I replied with an obvious excitement in my voice, Darius then look away.

I can tell the guy is embarrassed, since the red on his check is quite obvious when you look a bit closer.

"Oh uh... thanks." He replied still looking away, I chuckled.

"Alright! my turn!" Ray says as he raises his right arm, something then slowly build up in the air, as if it was pulsing.

"I'm one of the gift user, my gift is called 'Pulse', it allows me create pulses that can travel in air or I can touch someone and send pulses to them, to which may cause them to be out of conscious, I can also destroy solid objects with it, if I create a bigger ones." Ray explained as all of us nodded.

That's a very decent gift I gotta say, really helpful when it comes to battle.

"I can also apply it onto myself, so it gives me like a good amount of strength, speed and defense." Ray added before he dispel the pulse he created.

"That's a quite unique gift you got there Ray! I'm sure you can do a lot of things with that power you have, I can't wait to see it!" Once again I replied excitedly.

"Yes, Thomas is right that gift you have is very unique, you'll probably learn more as you improve." Darius said.

Ray chuckled, "Hehe, thanks! I'll do my hardest to train!" The panther said as he scratch the back of his head as his cheek slightly turn red.

"What about you? uh..."

"Aiden." He said to which I nodded, "My gift isn't that good for battle, but I can create portals and change the size of it, it's only good with transporting people or escaping from danger." Aiden explained.

"He will probably be the one who got our back and transport us to avoid an attack." Darius added.

'Eh?' I tilted my head in confusion.

"What do you mean? portal can also be used for offense and defense, not by just transporting yourself or other people." I said as all of them looked at me with a confused expression.

"How so?" Darius asked, "Something you know about using portals Thomas?" Ray added.

Well, I do use portals before to prank other people whenever I got bored, don't ask why.

"Um, I'll explain, you see when an attacker is about to strike, you could put a small portal at the front of the attacker, of course on where he lands his fist, and cast another one close to him, It could be either beside his face, his stomach, or any body parts. That will make him strike his self instead." I said as all of them did an 'Ohh..' expression.

"Or, if your fighting a range gift or artifact user, you could do the same thing or either redirect his attack."

"That's just unfair-" Ian complained, I chuckled, "It is."

The three of them nodded, "That's something, I didn't knew about that." Aiden said, "I guess we are lucky to have you in the team Aiden! I didn't know you could be this strong!" Darius says as he elbowed Aiden in a playful manner.

"How did you knew about this Thomas? you had the same gift as Aiden?" Ray asked, "Uh no, I don't have the same gift as Aiden." I replied back.

"Then what's your gift Thomas? I'm curious to know." Ray asked again as he move a bit closer.

Before I could even explained what my gift was, the big hologram then re-appear as the provost appears in the hologram.

"Alright everyone! times up, we will commence the entrance test now, please enter the dome if your name is called, if you formed a team, they will follow suit as well, now then!" The vice president then cleared her throat as she called the first student name.

"Ryan Domtray, please enter the dome to begin your test."

A human then yelled excitedly from a distance as he walk towards the dome, "Hell yeah!! I'm first! Lets do this!! time to get to the ranks!"

And here it is, a very overconfident guy who thinks he can easily do it, man he wasn't probably listening to what the provost warned about.

'To not let the overconfident get a hold of you'

The guy named Ryan then entered the dome, he then appeared in the big hologram at the front of the building.

As he continued moving forward, a particles then started to appear inside the dome, as it began to construct into a shape, slowly building itself into a small beast.

The human laugh mockingly towards the small creature, "Is this the thing I'm about to fight? this looks easy." He said as he points his fingers towards the small holographic creature.

While he continue at laughing towards the beast, out of nowhere his finger then got cut off as he stared at his cut finger, he begin to scream in pain, after grasping to the reality of what just had happened.

Oof, that's um... ouch.

"Oh don't worry, as I said a while ago it is not real, when you're inside of the dome it plays with your mind, to which will visualize on what happens in your mind, but in reality nothing actually happened." Miss Coraline says as she let out a slight giggle, I look back towards the human who was still screaming.

Huh, that's quite impressive, people from different countries sure develop very fast as days go by, but still... whenever she giggle gives me chills.

I look towards the creature at the hologram and inspects it a bit and realized what it was.

"No wonder, it's a type of beast that you shouldn't underestimate even tho it is considered as a low rank." I said to myself.

"Oh? you know about this beast Thomas?" Ray asked as I look at him and nodded.

"It's a gremlin type called 'Norvarin', it may be small but it can cut almost anything, though they are only aggressive if someone or something they feel as a threat." I explained to which he nodded in understanding.

"You sure know about this huh, I'm pretty sure every high school doesn't teach this kinda of stuff." Darius says as I shook my head, "Uh no, I learned it on my own, of course with the help of my dad. I wanna be prepared in case if I encountered a lost beast when I'm alone, to which actually happened a lot of times.. 

All of them stare at me with a surprised expression, "That's something, I never actually encountered a beast myself at a close distance, I'm even more surprised you managed to escape to one of them, a lot of times..." Darius says as Ray and Aiden nodded.

"I have to thank the knowledge I got from studying." I said, chuckling a bit, From my side there was Ian who was a bit amaze.
