Chapter 16 - Long Time No See!

[NOTE : I've kind of decided that this content will be a split chapter, since it's quite taking too long. Don't worry though, since I've made a lot of progress at chapter 17 already so I'm hoping it won't take long to finish :')

Again, my sincerest apologies that i've been uploading quite long lately. Just been dealing with life and stuff!!

[Tom's POV]

"Wait... Who's coming now?" I replied to my father from call as I was taken aback by some news my father brought up.

"Your twin brother is coming there." My father replied back from the other side of the call. "Ah, god... since when?..." I let out a groan, a bit surprised and worried upon knowing his upcoming arrival...

My father chuckles from the other side. "It looks like you don't like seeing your twin brother again." I grunted.

"No, no... It's not like that! I miss him dad! It's just..." I sighed. "He can be a little too protective, overly clingy and annoying at times... It's kind of overbearing, you know."

My father hummed. "Yeah. I did noticed that... Kind of adorable though!" I opened my mouth, wanting to say something back from that comment, but nothing, instead I continued to walk my way to my next subject.

"So when is he gonna arrive?" I asked. "Hmm, probably in late afternoon, after your class, maybe?" Dad says.

"You are somewhat unsure..." I said. "I-I mean! How can I even tell when your twin brother's going to arrive at an exact time? I can't you know!!" Dad says, letting out a deep sigh from the other side.

I chuckled in response. "Yeah, yeah. I'm just messing with you dad." I laughed lowly as I heard dad sighed once more before laughing himself. "You and your old jokes, I swear."

I scoff playfully. "You know me!"

"Well, anyway.  I will be planning to travel there via transportation. I'm going to stay in Ranvurd in one of our mansions there, probably be staying till your college years is done. As for the time for me to arrive... probably in 2 days." Dad says as I was once again taken aback from this sudden news he had brought to me. Now he is staying here till I finish college? What? Why? For what reason?

"Ummm... dad... why?" I asked, a bit tad confused from this information. Dad chuckled. "Don't worry, I'll explain it to ya in detail once I get there. But, in the meantime, I should be heading out now, I still have to finish my mountain of paperworks after all..." Dad said, showing some tiredness and some distress in his voice.

I groaned. "Dad. Have I not told you many times to not overwork too much? Just hearing your voice is enough proof for me that you have been overworking these past few months." I heard him grunt.

"Yeah... and I'm sorry for that son. Work's just gotten a little bit... complicated." He sighed. "So my assistant and I had to take care of it immediately." Dad said. "I know, but-"

Before I could even finish talking, dad cuts me off with another reply. "I know, I know. I promise I will take it easy and not work myself to death." Dad reassured, but still somewhat not convincing...

I sighed. "That's like the 55th times you've told me that already, and despite promising me, you still do it either way."

"Urk... I'm sorry pup..." Dad said, and by the tone of his voice, he is somewhat upset with himself. I sighed again.

"It's fine... Just... please do take it seriously dad... and do please eat on time. I don't want anything to happen to you."

Dad is now the one who sighed. "I can't promise that pup, but, I will try." Well now, that's somewhat reassuring... "Alright..." I replied, giving up from the argument knowing that I couldn't win either way.
