Reaching out a hand to turn off the ringing alarm clock, you sat up, yawning and stretching. It was a brand new day, and you were feeling super excited, because it was your birthday. Beomgyu had promised to bring you out the whole day and said there would be a surprise. Your feet grazed the wooden floor as you padded into the living room, hoping to see the familiar figure of the man you loved, only to be greeted by silence. A note was on the dining table and you picked it up, reading it:
Happy birthday, love!!! I prepared a special birthday breakfast for you, it's in the kitchen, I hope you like it! I know I said that I would bring you out the whole day but the company called us all back for an important meeting and wouldn't listen to my explanation. I'll try to be back as soon as possible to celebrate your special day with you, I'll most likely be back by noon if everything goes well. Remember to wait for me! I miss you already<3 -Beom
Your heart sank a little after reading the note, but his work was important and he'd promised to come back by noon. Well, you thought, at least I can look forward to breakfast. You went into the kitchen and saw that a lunchbox was on the table, waiting for you to open it. You were surprised when you opened the lunchbox and a small smile sat on your face. The lunchbox was filled with adorable bite-size food that you liked and had mentioned to Beomgyu a few times when the two of you were out shopping. He remembered and had woken up early to prepare it just for you. There was even a sticky note stuck on the container.

You took a picture and sent it to him, feeling an immense amount of love brewing inside of you. The fact that he made the effort to make it for you was just so endearing.

You enjoyed the rest of your breakfast happily, and with every bite, you could feel how much love he'd put into it. Needless to say, it was the best bento you had ever eaten.
After finishing the bento, you decided to read a book while waiting for him to come back. As it was the winter season, it was cold and you sat on the couch and wrapped blankets around yourself to keep warm while picking up a book from the stack beside you. For the next hour or so, you read and read, immersing yourself in the books, but remember to keep checking the time, hoping he'd be back. However, by lunchtime, he was still not back. You were feeling hungry and wondered if he had eaten already. Preparing a simple meal for yourself, you ate in silence, feeling the slightest twinge of disappointment. It was supposed to be a special day, yet he wasn't there to spend it with you.
