"I love you, Diluc"

You felt all hope disappear as you gently placed a hand on his cheek....only to see a small smile form on Diluc's lips.

"What the-", you said, wondering if you'd hallucinated the whole thing. You gasped as you watched Diluc's eyes fly open, his smile still on his face as he gazed up at you while his head rested on your lap.

"You..", you mumbled, still in shock. "You're awake...?"

Your eyes went wide as Diluc slowly sat up, blood still oozing through his coat. "But...I saw...the lector stabbed you...", you uttered in disbelief.

"I've been hurt worse before", he chuckled. "This isn't much"

You didn't know how to respond. "WHAT THE HELL", you yelled, suddenly getting up and moving away. You felt your cheeks practically burn with embarrassment. If he'd been awake this whole time, that means....that means...he heard you. Your confession, your crying, everything.

Of all times, this was the time when you needed a hole to crawl into the most.

"What's wrong??", Kaeya said, panting as he ran into the room. "I heard someone yelling and came as fast as I could,"

"Hm, you came quite early, didn't you. Very helpful," Diluc grunted. "We took care of everything already," he continued, gesturing at all the fallen hoarders.

Kaeya chuckled. "I knew I could count on you both. Let's get out of here, I must report back to the acting grand-master at once,"

And so with the help of Kaeya, you and Diluc slowly made your way back to Mondstadt. The embarrassment of your confession hurt more than all of your wounds did.

"Well, everything seems to be settled now," Kaeya said, looking around the empty bar. The three of you made it back to the bar safely after successfully taking care of the hoarders. You had bandaged Diluc's wound and he was resting in the back of the tavern.

"I'll take my leave then, Y/N. Rest well," he said, winking at you as he left the tavern. As soon as he closed the door behind him, you went towards Diluc. It was still night out, and moonlight flooded into the tavern.

Diluc was asleep on a small mattress on the floor and you sat down beside him. Diluc had treated the stab wound as if it was a small paper cut and you couldn't help but wonder what he had been through to think of it that way.

You reached out and slowly placed a hand on his cheek, recalling what had happened in the cave earlier. As humiliating as your sudden confession was, you were relieved that he had woken up in the end. You got up to let Diluc rest by himself when you felt a hand around your wrist pull you down onto the mattress. Surprised, you found yourself lying right next to Diluc, facing him. His eyes flew open and you blushed at how close he was.

"What are you doing...", you whispered, looking at him. "I can't be here..."

"Why not?", he asked, as a small smile played across his lips. "I thought you loved me"

Your eyes went wide and you felt your cheeks getting hot. "What...no..I just...", you stuttered, trying to come up with a decent response. You were taken aback at how attractive he looked in the silver moonlight that flooded through the windows onto his face, illuminating his long lashes and red eyes. Not to mention how close he was lying next to you....

Hearing him softly chuckle, you held your breath as he kissed your forehead. It felt like your heart was racing in your chest. You looked at him again only to see his eyes closed as he slowly drifted to sleep. Smiling, you got up and let him get very well-deserved rest.
