Today is the day na aalis ako sa province. Luluwas sa city for work and for my short month masters degree. If I were to choose ayaw ko sanang umalis at iwanan yung parents ko, but I have to. I've been dreaming of taking up a masters degree and to teach, so I have to chase my dreams. There's nothing wrong with staying out in my comfort zone, I guess?
Nakapag-empake na ako, ready na din lahat ng mga gamit ko before I left. Ihahatid ako ng parents ko sa city. It's far from here kaya for sure aabutin kami ng half of the day bago makarating doon.
"Are you sure you'll be fine there anak? Pwede kitang samahan if you feel homesick." Mom asked. She's still worried about me to stay alone in the city I'm not familiar with.
"Of course mom. I'll be fine there." I assured her. Hinawakan ko ang kamay niya. "I've been all by myself in a dormitory during college. This doesn't have any difference."
"You can't blame your mom Aiya. Iba yung city sa lugar natin." Dagdag pa ni dad.
"Dad I know." I smiled. "You don't have to worry about me. I can take care of myself. I'm all grown up now."
Mom and dad are so worried about me dahil mag-isa lang ako sa city. Gusto sana nila akong samahan pero hindi naman puwede na iwanan nila yung business namin sa province.
"You're our only daughter kaya ganito kami ka worried sayo." paliwanag ni dad.
"Understandable dad... but I'll be fine. I promise." sabi ko.
"But Aiya... Be careful okay? Hindi mo kabisado yung city dahil ibang-iba yun sa city kung saan ka nag graduate ng college. That place is a highly-urbanized area at anytime maliligaw ka kapag hindi kavpa familiar sa mga lugar doon." paalala ni dad.
Dad is right. Kahit na sa malapit na city dito sa province ako nag graduate, iba pa rin yung highly-urbanized city na pupuntahan ko.
"I know dad. Well don't worry, sasanayin ko yung sarili ko doon." ngumiti ako. "I can easily get myself familiar with places."
"That's my Aiya." mom smiled. "But young lady, you can enjoy on your free time okay, huwag lang sumobra."
"I will mom..."
"And don't entertain guys you just met. You can't trust anyone there." ani dad.
"Of course dad..." I just nodded at dad's statement.
I do have some guy friends during early school years until college, but this time mukhang mahirap magtiwala sa di mo talaga kilala. Medyo matagal pa yung byahe namin so I decided to take a nap while dad is busy driving. Nagising ako at around 1PM.
"We're almost there Aiya." sabi ni dad. "Malapit na tayong bumaba sa magiging condo unit mo."
Tumango lang ako habang tumitingin-tingin sa paligid. Dad is right. This place is a highly-urbanized area with lots of highways, skyways, busy streets and high-rise buildings.
Natigil kami sa isang building kung saan ako magstay for good. I booked a studio type condo unit for myself. Hinatid ako nina dad at mom hanggang sa 7th floor, room 21 kung saan nandoon ang unit ko. I have nothing to worry about the furnitures anymore dahil nandito na lahat. Maliit lang yung kwarto but that's enough for me to live here.
