Later that day, Eliza stands beside Torrence's bed, showing her the comic book that Demetri had brought in. He had taken it from Torrence at the beginning of last school year. "This is from Demetri." She says. "Okay." Torrence mumbles. "And that basket is from the LaRussos." Eliza tells her. Torrence exhales heavily before taking in a sharp breath. "What do you need, honey?" "Where's Johnny?" Torrence asks quietly. Eliza sighs. "Let's not focus on Johnny." She says softly. Torrence sighs, nodding as best as she can. The doctor comes in not too long after, checking her over.

He lifts her hand, bending her arm. "You're progressing nicely. How does this feel?" He asks. "Yeah." She nods. "Yeah? What about this?" He messes with her fingers. "Normal." She answers. "Great." Torrence turns to her mom, shaking her head when she offers her another bite of the food. The doctor lifts the blanket off her feet. "Miguel's Yaya's so excited. She's at home cooking up a storm." Eliza says. Torrence smiles, noticing the doctor touching her leg but she realizes she can't feel it... at all. "That's great, momma." She says. The doctor moves her foot. "How about this?" He asks.

"No." She answers. He pulls out a pen, poking her toes. "How about this?" "No." He pauses, pulling the blanket back over her feet. "That's... that's okay." He says. "You said the scans were okay, right?" Eliza asks. "Yes, yes." He answers. "Am I gonna be able to do karate again?" Torrence asks. "One day at a time. I'm gonna borrow your mom for a second, okay?" He motions Eliza with him. Eliza sets the food down. "Let me turn on the tv." She says. She does so before leaving the room with the doctor. Torrence smiles at her mom but it quickly fades when she sees her worried face.

Torrence's eyes drop to her legs, knowing that's the issue here. "Fuck." She mumbles. Eliza comes back, sniffling back tears. "Hey, what'd you find to watch?" She asks. "What's going on, mom? And please, don't lie to me." "Nothing's going on, baby. Do you want your phone?" Eliza goes to her bag, pulling out Torrence's phone. "Thanks, mom." Torrence mumbles. Eliza leaves after a little while, stating she's going to the restroom. Torrence hears footsteps. She looks over expecting her mom but sees Johnny instead. "Hey." Johnny says like it was any other day seeing her. "Hey."

"I, uh... keep having to sneak in here." He holds up his hand, showing her the hospital band. "I kept it from last time I was here." He continues. Torrence lifts her hand, setting it on Johnny's cheek. "What happened to your face?" She questions worried he had gotten into another fight. "I got into a fight with a paper towel dispenser. And a couple goons at a chop shop. You got rid of that neck brace thing, that's good. I always thought headgear was for nerds." He tries to joke. She pulls her hand down, shaking her head. "The doctor told my mom I might not walk again." She says.

He sighs, shaking his head. "What? No. They can't know that. Nah, they don't know how strong you are." "Johnny... I did what you taught me. I showed mercy. Why did this happen to me?" She tears up, looking up at him. "I don't know, princess." "You don't know?" She wasn't gonna blame Johnny but seeing him stand in front of her, knowing that she should've just broken Robby's arm instead of standing, she couldn't help but blame him. "I trusted you. I did everything that you told me." "Torrence, I..." He can't even look at her as tears drop down her cheeks. "Look at me!"

He carefully looks at her. He lifts his hand, setting it on her cheek, wiping away tears. "Torrence, I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." He mumbles, thumb running across her cheek. "I love you and I'm sorry." He says. She shakes her head before grabbing his shirt in her fist, pulling him to her. "Tell me it's gonna be okay." She mumbles. He takes in a sharp breath, nodding. "You're gonna be okay, princess." He tells her, leaning in closer. And to distract herself from everything going on, she lets him press his lips to hers. She slowly uncurls her fist, letting him go if he wants away from her.

She sighs into the kiss before gently pulling back. "You need a shower." She tells him with a small laugh. She hears footsteps again and she looks over to see her mom. "Johnny." Eliza scolds. "Mom, it's okay." "No, Torrence, it's not okay. He shouldn't be here. His son put you in the hospital." Eliza snaps. "Johnny had nothing to do with his son kicking me over a railing, mom. Just because Robby fucked up doesn't mean Johnny had anything to do with it." Torrence snaps in return. "Torrence Bailey Miller, I want this man nowhere around you." "That sucks for you, mom." Torrence growls.

"Johnny, you need to leave." Eliza states. "I'll go." Johnny says to avoid causing a fight between them. He kisses Torrence quickly. "I love you." He mumbles against her lips. She smiles as he walks out. "Torrence-" "Don't start, mom. I'm eighteen. I decide who I want around. And Johnny is someone that I want around. Period." Torrence says with a scowl. Eliza sighs angrily, rubbing her temples. "All right. But let him fuck up one more time and he's gone and that's final." She states. "Fine. But I'm telling you, everything's gonna be okay." Torrence assures. "Okay."
