BACKGROUND ──────────── ꗃ born into a well off family, ZOYA often was sheltered at home. her parents, especially her father, always tried to train her to take over the family company at such an early age. On busy days, her parents would send ZOYA to stay with her uncle and aunt till they got back from so called business trips. ZOYA grew up with the words prim and proper engraved in her head. excessive balls, sitting in business meetings, all before the age of seventeen. it always felt as if her life was just planned ahead of her, not knowing what she could do. ZOYA, for the most part, felt stuck in place. even in the private school she went to, her parents made sure her activities and extracurriculars were to their liking, going as far to pull ZOYA out of the journalism committee.
it was only when her family moved to california from boston in order to ensure their company's branches were working to their expectations that ZOYA began to find herself more. her parents, though reluctantly, sent her to a public high school. It was there that ZOYA took a lot of interest in so much things. gardening, the book club, she even almost tried signing up for the decathlon once.
